As someone who has primarily lived in New York his entire life, the only other place that I can call home to a certain degree is Providence, Rhode Island, where I attended college for five years. Providence has the convenience of being wedged between New York City and Boston and even though is a smaller city than both, it makes up for it with its charm, beauty and endless amounts of fun things to do. If you are planning on heading to Providence in the upcoming weeks or months, or even want to stop by and experience all it has to offer, one place that I highly recommend checking into is The Omni Providence, located right in the heart of the city on W. Exchange Place.
The Omni Providence is part of the Omni Hotel collection, where you can find each plastered across this great country of ours. There are so many reasons why The Omni is a fantastic place to stay- one being location, location, location. Whereas it is good to have a car in Providence, as the city is small but not small enough to get around on foot for the most part, the hotel provides easy and walkable access to some of the best parts of Providence including Providence Place Mall, Waterfire, an award-winning fire sculpture installation on the three rivers, several amazing restaurants from Jacky’s to Fleming’s and so many more. It is also walking distance to several of the top gay and straight bars in the area, and a mere matter of minutes from the Amtrak station. What’s not to love with their location? I have a hard time thinking of any.
The hotel itself is majestic in size and a treat visually in so many ways. The lobby is a labyrinth as it is a great midpoint for groups who are hosting events to convene and enjoy the space together, and the overall look and execution of this particular part of the hotel really is beautiful. The largest hotel in the city with 564 rooms, it is a great place to stay at if you having a ton of people with you, or for said event that you are hosting, as chances are they will be able to accommodate you. They have a wonderful staff who greet you upon arrival, and ensure you will have a great day. The room I stayed in, on the 20th floor, was beautiful with a fantastic view of the city, comfortable bed, spacious shower, and great amenities such as wifi and cable that provided a great stay for me overall.
The Omni Providence will be embarking on their room renovations project this spring and summer, where each of the guest rooms will be renovated to upgrade the experience. The schedule is supposed to start in June, so there are mutual benefits for booking now or later as no matter what, it will be a fabulous stay as they already have a lot of amazing things going on. Definitely one to check into the next time you are in Providence. For more information, check out their official site.
