Lush. Warm. Humid. Heat that brings a slight bead of sweat to your brow but that which makes the cool breeze coming off the ocean water feel gloriously soothing to sun kissed skin. I have always been drawn to green. (Dark green) heavy hanging leaves that lazily droop over sun-splashed walks. Paths leading to azure waves crashing over alabaster sands, glittering in the light. Life in the golden hour; island landscapes that would give an influencer FOMO. The saturated jewel tones of beachside life that make pictures look like a bohemian fever dream. I live in the concrete jungle where dreams are made; when I want to escape, I dream of anything except rocks and dirt (yes, don’t touch anything in NY…it’s dirty). And yet, as fate would have it, I somehow found myself in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is probably the last place I would have chosen to take a break, but I had the time of my life. (Cross my heart!) Kunio Ichinose Introduces Ikinari Steak to The Big Apple!
Japan surely has an infatuation with all things American. This is unmistakable if you have seen like any show or movie set in the island nation. If Hello Kitty, The Ring movies, and, of course, Pokemon are any indication, Americans are always clamoring for Japan to return the favor. Being my first formal cocktail party in the city, I was kvelling with excitement. Men in dapper suits and ladies in that perfect little black dress spinning around the room. The air was sweet with delicious sugary confections and the violet blooms that adorned the Brugal cocktails lined up at the ready of garrulous partygoers. Splashes of gold, red, and blue light rotating with floral patterns washed over room bringing the shiny blank canvas of space to life with a vibrant bouquet. Bustan’s Mediterranean Vibes Shines in The UWS
There are so many things to learn about this city: where to live, where to work, where to play? Because there are so many options, it can be daunting to decide, “Where do I eat?” Like many, we probably stick to our tried and true neighborhoods and eateries. I tend to head downtown toward the lights. I’ve been a New Yorker for about 4 years now and gained a solid group of friends who thankfully love to eat and often give me some great places to try all over town. My most recent culinary adventure was to the UWS. On the recommendation of a friend, I headed over to Bustan on Amsterdam and 83rd street. New York City Wine and Food Festival’s “Trade Tasting” Review!
Each year, one foodie event that so many New Yorkers look forward to is The Food Network and Cooking Channel’s New York Food and Wine Festival. It marries two things that New Yorkers hold very dear: our love to eat and drink the best the city has to offer in the same place, at the same time. Time is money, so on Friday, October 14, 2016, I wasted neither getting down to Pier 94 to check out this year’s selections at the Trade Tasting hosted by Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits. This invite-only event was a chance for those in the industry to check out what is new and hot and chilled on the food, wine, and spirits scene.
