It’s always fun when you welcome a new neighbor to the surrounding area, especially one as bustling as Union Square. The new neighbor in this situation is Camacho’s, which gave us a special media dinner last night in preparation for their grand opening on March 30th! I had my taste buds prepared for what they had to offer us, and if this is a preview of things to come, I can only see great things happening for this colorful and tasty establishment.
Located at 118 East 15th Street right off the major subway lines, Camacho’s is the brain child of FB Hospitality Group CEO Michael Sinensky and President Erika London, and is named after Executive Chef Fernando Camacho. Camacho’s is moderately sized, holding about 80 people in its location, which adds to its wonderful intimacy that it accomplishes beautifully inside.
The lighting is dim enough to create a certain mood overall, and it has these super awesome swing seats that adds a great amount of comfort to your dining experience. I love the colorful reds that encompass the room as well, and the bar is the perfect spot as it hits you right when you walk inside.
The staff was nice enough to treat us to a preview of what’s to come with their food and drink, as we dined on some delicious nachos with a variety of sauces as well as some majorly tasty entrees, desserts and drinks.
Liquid Lab NYC’s Parker Boase and Gregory Lucas created the restaurant’s specialty cocktails, dubbed Burrachos. The list will include signatures like the “Bad Hombre” and a number of other margaritas, micheladas and tequila shot flights. Camacho’s will have an extensive array of 99 bottles of tequila and mezcal on the wall in addition to Micheladas, Red & White Sangria and Sangritas.
The food was bomb ass good, and I never really use that expression mainly because it really isn’t that professional but this is my site and therefore… I SAID IT! We were treated to delicious Mexican dishes including Floutas, Mexican Style Street Corn, Shrimp Salad, Tacos, and so much more that had so much flavor, spice and taste in each of them that left us feeling full and completely satisfied. This is such a great spot for a date or dinner for two as you can order a bunch of items on that won’t leave you feeling stuffed or hurting your wallet. Overall, Camacho’s has it going on in so many ways from execution of its plates to ambiance and more. I hope for good things to come in the future for them.
Be sure to check them out when they open on March 30th, a must try for the spring time! For more information, check out their official site.
