Atlas Social Club in Hell’s Kitchen played host to the premiere of LOGO’s upcoming docuseries “Fire Island“, which follows a group of six gay, young business professionals living together as they search for the romance, temptations, and thrills. Manhattan Digest was on the red carpet for this highly anticipated series, with the cast in full swing as well as executive producers Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos as well as some super awesome special guests!

I had the opportunity to interview the guys from Fire Island last month at the season 9 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race (contestant Peppermint was also in attendance last night), and got a better understanding from each guy as to why they did this show, as there is so much more to it than what they showed in the trailer that was released recently. We are all faced with adversity, and that’s one of the things that brings us all together. There are several personal things for each one of us, and when you bring a group of people together that don’t know each other that well you are forced to coexist and it’s a challenge and one that’s worth watching, said cast member Jorge Bustillos.

I caught up with cast member (and friend) Justin Russo about why he is so excited for the show to begin. “I’m excited because ultimately this is a story of 6 strangers who grew into 6 close friends and more so grew into themselves.” When asked what fans can expect, he said “Fans can expect utter chaos, a fun ride, and a deeper look into our culture.”.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were in good spirits throughout the night, as they showed a ton of pride and admiration for all of the guys (Brandon Osorio, Cheyenne Parker, Khasan Brailsford, and Patrick McDonald round out the cast) and is looking forward to what will happen and get people talking into the summertime!

Also in attendance were Jersey Shore alums Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Samantha Giancola and Vinny Guadagnino.
