We are big fans of Long Island based band The Little Red Men, as they are on a journey to be the next big thing out of Long Island. We recently profiled them about who they are and what they are about, as their updated version of Indie rock is sure to bring the masses back to a genre that has been wounded over the past decade or so. They just released a killer new track that you all should know about, called “I Won’t Be Far”, and it’s definitely one you gotta download and jam to this fall season.
Lead singer Brandon Gurba has a falsetto that echoes similar to other major artists right now like Adam Levine and James Arthur, and its a delight to hear on a song like this. The angst in this is very evident, and one that could easily be on the radio for millions to hear.
The layering of the song is quite spectacular, as it starts slow and then goes into a rock edge with multiple instruments getting their own special place at the table to shine. There are definite throwback elements in this song that make it simply fantastic, with some of it bringing me back to the mid 90’s when rock was supreme and even in the early 2000’s when bands like Linkin Park and Sum 41 ruled the charts.
The lyricism scores points as well, as “I Won’t Be Far” rings on an emotional level that fits in with the male singers who are at the tops of their games right now (IE Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars). Overall, “I Won’t Be Far” is superb and one that I definitely recommend taking a listen to.
