“Hiiiiiiiii!!!” was the first word that we heard out of RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Alaska Thunderfuck 5000 when she entered the werk room on Season 5 of the best and biggest reality show on television over the past ten years. Since her triumphant entrance, she took that season by storm, making it all the way to the final three, despite a lot of pressure and odds against her, and narrowly lost to Jinkx Monsoon. Pinks NYC is bringing Southern California to the East Village
I almost missed Pink’s NYC as I walked past it. It’s hidden under some scaffolding and almost looks like it should be the kitchen for the restaurant in front of it. Inside is a different story. [Read more…] about Pinks NYC is bringing Southern California to the East Village

Taking Flight with Aerial Silk Classes at Espana-Streb & The Muse
I started taking aerial silks classes earlier this year. Like many of us, I first realized that these things existed when Cirque du Soleil hit the American stage, sometime in the late 90s. I figured that these were all Eastern European and Asian wonderkind who had been training in this type of thing since they were born, and that this type of stuff was closed off to anyone over the age of 10. And also over 5’10 and 150#. And since I was over 6 feet tall and built like a defensive lineman, well, let’s just say that the image of me hoisting myself up into the air to spin on silks like some sort of delicate spider seemed ludicrous.
