In April, I was lucky enough to be able to travel to Providenciales, an island in the Turks and Caicos chain of the north Caribbean. I loved the challenge of capturing the beauty of the island through my lens. Normally, I am walking the streets attempting to bring the life and scenes of New York City. I don’t often travel, I lack the funds. I was so excited to experience “Provo” and was grateful to go abroad and get some great shots. This is the first of a two part series… [Read more…] about A Manhattanite Abroad: A Turks and Caicos Photo Travel Blog

Step Away From the Device! A Photographic Response to Technology
Stephen King once wrote, “A true romantic will always reject technological advancements.” By that measure, it seems that the world is in dire need of true romantics. How many of us (yes, I am including myself) take the time to actually look up from our phones when we walk down the street? Do your palms get itchy when your phone or tablet or laptop or remote control is out of view? [Read more…] about Step Away From the Device! A Photographic Response to Technology
More of New York Photography Unedited
I mentioned in my last article that as I progress as an artist I am coming to different conclusions as to the use of post editing to enhance photographs. At what point do they stop being photos and become pieces of graphic art. If you have viewed this space over the past years you will have noticed that I have come right up to this line and even past it on a number of occasions. New York Unfiltered: An Unedited Photo Blog
Post picture editing is about 5 minutes older than the art of photography itself. We have gone from painting in color by hand to the endless complexity of Photoshop and Lightroom. Most of the editing I do for my own photos is done through apps on my phone. I rely on post-shot editing in order to express how I truly saw the scene or subject I was photographing. The Manhattan Spring Sky- A Photo Essay
Everyone knows that the winter in New York City is long and particularly brutal. Just this year we had snow in April for the first time in as long as I can remember. I even heard of a police department issuing a warrant for the groundhog who predicted an early spring on the charges of fraud. When the cold weather stretches deep into March on a yearly basis it’s easy to dream of the eternal warmth of Miami or LA. [Read more…] about The Manhattan Spring Sky- A Photo Essay
New York City Street Art- A Photo Blog
I am a big believer that art is where you find it. Whether it’s a beautiful sunrise/sunset or witnessing a random act of kindness, we are surrounded every day by art of some kind. Walking anywhere through Manhattan you can find organic art of all sorts. However, my focus today are the actual art installations of Manhattan. These works are meant to blend seamlessly into the city around them, yet they stand out as meritorious in their own right. All credit is due to the artists whose work is shown here. I hope I have done some justice to your vision. [Read more…] about New York City Street Art- A Photo Blog
