Trixie Mattel’s tour, Now With Moving Parts, has already come and gone in New York City, but there’s still a chance to spend an evening with the reigning RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars queen, and for a good cause. On Saturday, September 1, Trixie will host Pride Bingo at Atlantic City’s favorite destination for New Yorkers, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, currently celebrating it’s 15th birthday with major events throughout the year including concerts with Cher and Britney Spears. Annual Point Honors Gala Celebrates LGBTQ Culture in Uncertain Times
This year’s annual Point Honors Gala – sponsored by Point Foundation, the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organazation for LGBTQ students – was certainly a joyous celebration, despite the heavy air of paranoia that has been gripping the community. Speaker Jorge Valencia even started his presentation by saying, “We are living in a country where we’re told that facts are fake. And if you don’t like the reality you’re living in, all you have to do is choose an alternate one.” Still, the performers all presented confidently, and stressed the accomplishments of people under the Point Foundation banner. Theater Review: “Afterglow” offers Sexy and Substantial Views
“Have you seen Afterglow yet?” I was recently asked by two different friends in two different circumstances over the course of 24 hours. “You need to see it,” they implored. I took that as a sign. [Read more…] about Theater Review: “Afterglow” offers Sexy and Substantial Views
Theater Review: Kinsey Sicks “Things You Shouldn’t Say” Showers Soho with Sass
At first glance, the Kinsey Sicks appear to offer a typical, run-of-the-mill drag show. All of the expected elements are in place: mascara, beautiful dresses, high heels, perfectly quaffed, aquanet hair, eyelashes for miles, and—above all—witty quips and banter. Why RuPaul’s DragCon Was Unbelievably Epic… Hunty
We had a fantastic time at RuPaul’s DragCon this past weekend, which took place at the Jacob Javitz Center in Midtown Manhattan. The event took place for the first time here on the east coast (it’s been running for three years straight in Los Angeles), and I have to say that they have clearly struck gold based on the sheer chaos and excitement that the entire building felt throughout the two days there. Dear Gay Men: Please Stop Calling Me Chubby. Thanks in Advance.
The word “fetish” runs rampant in the gay community. Sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the not so good (see here). Something that can easily be fetishized within this ever growing cafeteria of gay subcategories is when a guy happens to be into someone who is carrying extra weight on them. This term used to be referred as someone who is a “bear”, however the meaning of that is now so misconstrued that even I don’t know what is and what isn’t (it’s basically a state of mind at this point. Which is fine). So what happens when you are like me, and have the weight on you, but don’t like being called words like “chubby” amongst others adjectives? At what point does someone draw the line with how they fetishize a dude with size? [Read more…] about Dear Gay Men: Please Stop Calling Me Chubby. Thanks in Advance.
Liam Knox Has a Sweet Disposition… and is Sexy to Boot
I first met the dashingly handsome Liam Knox a couple of months ago, when he was in Manhattan for the Black Party and all of its debauchery. We sat down for what became a three hour lunch (the best, in my opinion) where the TitanMen exclusive told me all about himself and where he got to where he is. He, just like many of the other men in the industry that i have met and interviewed, has a fantastic backstory to him that elevated not only his charm and good looks but above all his heart to a level that I don’t think I have seen before. He has spent the past four years writing and developing music that has now been put together on a remarkable first effort called “Loud”, which is available for purchase today. “Super Smash Bros” Reimagined as Hot, Burly Bears? Yes, Please!
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at Luigi and Pikachu ever again, and you know what… that’s fine! The bear world has been abuzz on social media this week, as these incredibly hot and amazing recreations of characters from Super Smash Bros have been popping up all over the place! This is all courtesy of Oso Apparel, who has set their mission to create bear apparel for “bear lovers, geeks, and fashion-forward folk”, according to their Facebook page with the Super Smash bears series and so much more. Seems to be doing the trick so far. [Read more…] about “Super Smash Bros” Reimagined as Hot, Burly Bears? Yes, Please!
