As someone who is trying to grow their own brand, I am always amazed and quite humbled to be in the presence of a person who started with a simple idea and turned it into something that even they couldn’t imagine. That was exactly what happened yesterday when I went to a fabulous event for Bethenny Frankel and her Skinnygirl Candy Line, which was unveiled at Dylan’s Candy Bar in Union Square.

I Forgot It’s Wednesday Supper Club Returns To NYC February 6th
As crazy as New York City can actually be, sometimes it is really good to experience something amazing yet have it be in a quieter, controlled setting where your focus is a lot better and you can enjoy things at a better decibel. This seems to be a great concept for a supper club called I Forgot It’s Wednesday, or IFIW for short. Run by husband and wife team Matt & Jenny Dorsey, IFIW made leaps and bounds as the number one superclub in San Francisco by 7×7 Magazine (over Michelin-starred Lazy Bear) and was also featured in top food publications such as SF Weekly, Eater, The Village Voice and more. So what makes IFIW so special?

Jonathan’s Ristorante Boasts Refined Italian Cuisine & More
In any area of New York, it is very hard for any type of business to establish longevity with how competitive each environment is. Food, fashion, technology and more, it is dog eat dog out there and only the smart and strong ones really do survive. Jonathan’s Ristorante, a staple smack dab in the middle of Huntington Village, has been able to do that since 1994 and has done it absolutely beautifully now that I have finally been into this place since living virtually two or three miles from it since I was eight years old. With its refined approach to Italian cuisine, Jonathan’s expertly takes each dish it provides and puts enough TLC into it to really make what you are having not just another plate of food, but an experience.

There are so many to choose from and chances are, you won’t be let down as this is the best place in the world for that kind of delicacy. So which places are the best? Let’s break it down.

Ruvo’s Italian Cuisine Lights Up Greenlawn & Port Jefferson
On the heels of how popular my most recent article about dining on Long Island was, I figured why not continue the streak with a fantastic restaurant located in the heart of Greenlawn that is celebrating its 16th year being open. This of course is Ruvo, which became open to the public in the year 2000, the same year I started my freshman year at Harborfields High School. I have passed this place hundreds of times, yet have never stopped in even though I have heard rave reviews from my other friends and family members who have been there. They also have a sister location based in Port Jefferson on top of the Greenlawn one, which opened about a decade ago. Suffice to say, the anticipation finally climaxed when i went with a friend over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

A Manhattanite in Washington, D.C.- Where to Eat?
Sure, there are a zillion great places to eat in New York City. I mean, come on, it’s NEW YORK CITY for Pete’s sake! However, it is always a good and refreshing thing to go outside your inner circle and see what the rest of the world has to offer. Last weekend, I visited our nation’s capital when I stayed in Washington, D.C. for a couple of days for a much needed vacation. During my time there, I got to experience the best of what D.C. has to offer when it comes to the varieties of cuisines it prepares for its everyday locals and tourists to devour. All of the places I tried with my friends had something special to them, and each I would highly recommend trying out the next time you are on the Amtrak down to D.C. Check them out.
