Big Taste Comes in Little Packages at Natsumi Tapas
When she set out to create a piu piccola version of Natsumi, Barbara Matsumura (Haru, Daruma, Joe’s Shanghai) set up shop in Gramercy. Here, she stepped up the game on the mix of Japanese and Italian flavors, but cut the size. In Natsumi Tapas, Matsumura, along with the talents of Italian chef Andrea Tiberi and sushi chef Hiroyuki Nagao (Nobu, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Haru,) presents an extensive Japanese, Italian, and somewhere-between-the-two menu of smaller plates to share. Manager Porche Prasertchoang, said, with Natsumi Tapas, they wanted to offer food with the same theme as the restaurant’s predecessor, but with smaller portions and at a lower price point for the customer. Obica Mozzarella Bar Electrifies Taste Buds in Flatiron
If someone were to ask me (and why shouldn’t they, I’m always hungry) what my favorite type of cuisine is, chances are my answer would be Italian. The diverse and fresh ingredients made in the assortment of dishes within its culinary repertoire are always at the top of my taste buds, palate and so much more when it comes to coming in hungry and leaving pleasantly full. Granted, we live in the best city in the world for this type of cuisine and many others, so I jump at any opportunity when it comes to reviewing the latest and greatest in all things Italian cuisine. I got to experience that, and so much more, this past Friday night at the delightful and wonderfully tasty Obica Mozzarella Bar, located in the heart of the Flatiron district on Broadway between 22nd and 21st street. PN Wood Fired Pizza is your New Favorite Pizza Place… and More
New York City boasts that it is the birthplace of pizza. (Screw you, Chicago. We win.) We have “the first pizza parlor” and $1 slices all over town. We can get it delivered to us at any time of day or night. We have gluten-free pizza places. We claim it’s just better here, (something about the water?), and we are damn proud of it. With all of this, I’m always surprised when someone can change the pizza game, and completely succeed. [Read more…] about PN Wood Fired Pizza is your New Favorite Pizza Place… and More

Fleet Week, which is coming up on May 25th-31st, is one of the biggest weeks in New York City for several different reasons. What’s even better, two great dining vessels, Bateaux New York and Spirit of New York and New Jersey, are going out of their way to make sure that they and you have a great time! Professor Thom’s Makes the Grade in The East Village
It’s not just a sports bar. As I approached Professor Thom’s at 219 2nd Avenue between 13th and 14th streets in the East Village, I noticed the sequence of numbers many will recognize from TV’s “Lost” painted on the second floor facade. I wondered why a bar that caters to fans of the Red Sox and Michigan’s Wolverines would sport the iconic sequence, but shrugged it off and walked inside a dimly lit ground level bar.
