Fellow New Yorkers- we can breath now, cause rooftop season is finally in full affect! It may be hard for people who are not from here to understand how crucial this time of year is for us. Catching Up with Handsome Grooming Expert Pete Karjalainen
Pete Karjalainen has had a lot happen to him over the past three years since we last spoke with him back in the winter of 2014. He successfully transitioned into work in his first barber in Washington D.C. and has now gone full throttle in the men’s grooming business with his own line of beard care products simply called Barber Pete. Pete is somewhat of a chameleon of sorts in that his colors always change in terms of the career path he is taking, but each have shined bright in their own ways, and this new one might be his brightest yet. The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center is a Manhattanite’s Dream
The Rainbow Room has got to be one of the most iconic locations I have ever been to in the city of Manhattan. It’s sort of hard to figure out where to begin just to describe how beautiful and elegant this space is, as the minute the elevator doors opened on the 65th floor inside Rockefeller Center left me and my friend completely speechless. I took my friend there this past Sunday just to experience how incredibly awesome it truly was, and was left feeling so many emotions but most of all the feeling that we just experienced something that is truly special. Affordable Art Fair: Spring 2017: “All the Bedazzlers of New York…”
Though emojis are becoming an increasingly integral part of our text vocabulary, I feel cheated whenever they take up a correspondingly significant portion of an art show. At the Affordable Art Fair in Chelsea, where prices ranged from $100 to $10,000 a piece, emojis winked at attendees from around every corner, dangling in the form of beads on clear strings (by Natasja Van Der Meer) and hanging as shiny, metallic fixtures from the walls. Sugar East: Lenox Hill’s Fresh Hangout Haven Has Stellar Opening
Let me start this as a slight geography lesson, just in case you’re not too sure where the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan is located, ha ha! Lets just say Lenox Hill is the “downtown” of the Upper East Side directly adjacent to Midtown, expanding from East 60th to East 77th from East River to Park Avenue. Manhattan Digest’s Oscars Review: Hair & Makeup Edition!
Alright, so was it just me or did everyone at the Oscars look like they did their own hair and makeup themselves this year? Ironically that might make the rest of us common folk feel better. If this is some kind of new motivational movement where “You are enough,” then great, keep it up. If this is not a “thing,” then stop hiring people off Instagram to do your hair and makeup. I have no idea what I was really expecting this season, but this wasn’t it. It ain’t cute; it was a little disappointing actually.
