What are you doing one week from today? If your answer is: “Going to work”, you have made a noble, but terribly incorrect choice. The correct response is: “Calling off sick and going to New World Stages for the most exciting industry event of the year.” Here, non-boring brainiacs from surprisingly unexpected disciplines will share their insights and help answer the question, “What is the best Broadway can be?”
This marks the 5th consecutive year for TedxBroadway, an event started by Goldstar CEO Jim McCarthy and Damian Bazadona, founder of Situation Interactive. Once again, Jujamcyn Theaters and Broadway.com serve as co-sponsors. Students and young professionals will have an opportunity to participate as well, thanks to the generosity of the Nederlander Organization, the Shubert Organization, and Disney Theatrical Group.
Recently, the complete list of participants was announced. This year’s speakers include: D.J. Kurs, artistic director of DeafWest Theatre, Former CBS television personality Mark McEwen, Erin Lavik, a professor of chemical, biochemical, and environmental engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Jennifer Ashley Tepper, director of programming at Feinstein’s/54 Below, and many others. Composer Derrick Wang will also contribute. His timely opera, Scalia/Ginsburg, premiered in July 2015 and he will be on hand to discuss that work, and the art of creating music for an interdisciplinary world.

Every year, TedXBroadway sells out, so grab a ticket. After all, sharing ideas is much healthier and less symptomatic than sharing zika. Click here for tickets to the Monday, February 22nd Event. Sessions begin at 11 AM ET. For additional information, visit http://www.tedxbroadway.com
