Rentbrella Is Making Their Mark In NYC As Your Rainy Day Companion

by Clarissa Shine

As ride-sharing becomes the norm for society, it’s no surprise that other industries are starting to engage in the concept. Let’s talk about Rentbrella, a mobility and technology app that focuses on providing consumers with an umbrella-sharing service that is available for free 24-hour use. The mission of the brand is to reduce waste by minimizing the number of umbrellas that are being manufactured and discarded.

Rentbrella has over 35 umbrella-sharing stations throughout Manhattan in high-traffic areas. Imagine this, it’s raining cats and dogs and you forgot your umbrella, through the Rentbrella app you can access which location is closest to you and be pointed in the direction of an umbrella.

The best part about this program is the quality fabrication used to make the umbrellas. Rentbrella produced umbrellas that use state-of-the-art hydrophobic material, feature UV protection capabilities, and are made from fiberglass which provides extra shielding from strong winds.

Once users are finished using the umbrellas, they can be returned to any Rentbrella station. After the first free 24-hours, they can expect to be charged $2 per day for the second and third days. If the umbrella has not been returned by the third day or wants to keep the umbrella, they will be charged a one-time fee of $16.

Rentbrella is a great concept, especially for busy New Yorkers who may forget their umbrella at home.

Let us know what you think of this app and if you come across any stations around the city!

At the end of August, online news source Forbes published an article entitled “Bitcoin Is The New ‘Gold’”. Within the article, author Panos Mourdoukoutas explains that gold simply isn’t attracting the attention that it used to as bitcoin has taken its place when it comes to security during times of financial uncertainty. The cryptocurrency has increased in value more than ten times over the last twelve months alone, while SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) continue to shrink. Old Habits Are Dying Hard: The Death of Browser-Based Games?

by Ryan Shea

Games

Do you remember Homestar Runner, RuneScape and Newgrounds? Think back to the days where browser-based gaming rivaled its console counterparts. Days where games didn’t necessarily have to have a storyline to be fun – back to the days where all you had to do was click the mouse and keep a plane from crashing. They were simpler times for sure, but, as it turns out, they haven’t really disappeared, they’ve just moved over to the mobile platform. This has taken a generation that grew up with all of these games and has given them the power to play anywhere. [Read more…] about Old Habits Are Dying Hard: The Death of Browser-Based Games?

Casinos Aren’t Just for Vegas: Why New York’s are Worth the Trip

by Ryan Shea

Casinos

When it comes to gambling, there’s a universal idea that only destinations like Las Vegas hold the monopoly on casinos. The bright lights, the 24/7 partying – it all creates this picture that Vegas is the only stop on the gambling map, and yet there’s other locations to discover. Places like New York. This might surprise some of you, but this hub of culture is where a lot of hot action is happening, thanks to the considerable list of casinos that populate the surrounding areas. Plate IQ- Manhattan Restaurant Accounting Made Easy & Insightful!

by Ryan Shea

While being at Manhattan Digest for four years now,  I have reviewed a ton of incredible restaurants both in and out of the city that left me quite impressed.  It was sad to see though that some of them closed as time went by, and one of the reasons for said closing just might be how they handled accounting.  In a city as fast paced as Manhattan, accounting is that much more crucial in order to really understand all about the money that is coming in and out of your location.  Plate IQ is that one company that helps with all of this in a minimal amount of time, and can be the one tool that can truly make your business excel in ways you never thought of before.
