Just when you thought cabaret spots were dead, along comes The Green Room 42 to prove that they are still alive and thriving. Since 2017, this beautiful space nestled in Midtown West’s Yotel Hotel has been attracting both Broadway stars and aspiring talent to its stage.
The joint has become so popular, that many artists have returned for monthly engagements. Les Miserable’s original Eponine, Frances Rufelle, has been blazing with fire almost every month this with her show, “Frances Ruffelle Live(s) in New York.” Audiences can feel the Tony winner’s heat on February 2nd and March 2nd.
Crooner Spencer Day hung his hat at the Green Room this year, delivering original jazz tunes as well as some covers. The Billboard-charting boy wonder will be back in full swing on January 4th, March 22nd, and April 19th. Two time Tony nominee Vivian Reed was also on hand to deliver the story of Lena Horne to sold-out audiences. She’ll be back with an all-new show in 2019.

Tony Winner Lillias White will also return for her second consecutive birthday celebration. Help her spread the love on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
More recently, newcomer Liisi LaFontaine made both her cabaret and New York City debut at The Green Room. LaFontaine recently starred in the West End production of Dreamgirls. On Tuesday, December 4th, she performed a variety of songs ranging from Broadway to pop–and some original compositions. LaFontaine is a promising talent and possesses a strong stage presence. Though her debut was admirable, it would have been greatly improved with some direction and focus. LaFontaine’s program seemed to be all over the map. With some tightening, LaFontaine will raise her game from good to great. She’ll return to the Green Room later next year.

Broadway’s favorite Queen of Comedy, Lesli Margherita brought some holiday pizazz in “Yule Your Kingdom.” The show was primarily a slightly tweaked version of her existing show, “Rule Your Kingdom,” with a splash of Christmas music. Still, Margherita is a consistently hilarious talent who can amuse and inspire her audiences.
The Green Room 42 offers an extensive food and drink menu, never charges a minimum, and keeps their ticket prices affordable. Keep in touch with all of their happenings by frequently checking their website: https://www.onfournyc.com/
