Gays and camping go together like Queen Elizabeth and a Monster truck rally. Ok. Perhaps I’m stereotyping, but it’s a relatively safe bet that camping is probably not the first idea that comes to mind when metropolitan gays want a break from the city.

Glamping, however, carries an aura of glamour of fun. On August 2-4, city dwellers can indulge themselves at Club Getaway, a 300-acre campground located in the Berkshire Mountains of Kent, Connecticut.
GlampOut is a 3-day weekend designed to help tightly wound LGBTQ New Yorkers unwind in a bucolic setting. Guest have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including rock climbing, mountain biking, and zip-lining, to color wars, archery, and trapeze for beginners. Those who simply wish to rejuvenate are welcome to perch by the lakeside with a great book.

Other events include comedians, drag brunches, cosmo crawls, foam pits and shmooze time with TV personality Carson Kressley.
Evenings will bring even more fun and frivolity with happy hours, live music, late-night campfires complete with s’mores and Boathouse themed dance parties.

3 meals are provided during the weekend and transportation is available to/from Kent, CT. No need to worry about pitching an outdoor tent. Each guest will be housed in ClubGetaway’s cabins which include individual bathrooms and Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Let loose and treat yourself to a fabulous 3 day weekend in the country. It’s certain to be Mike Pence‘s worst nightmare–or his private fantasy? Either way, you’ll have a blast.
Our fellow writer Ryan Shea had a blast at a similar event put on by Club Getaway two years ago.
