For those that want a healthy and satisfying sushi meal, there aren’t too many valid options in Manhattan. Restaurants in the area can either be too expensive, low-quality, or both, but fortunately there’s a very nice route one can take to get delicious and affordable sushi in the Flatiron District.
Mizu Sushi has been nestled at 29 E 20th Street for the past 7 years, and is a must-attend for all lovers of Japanese and Thai dishes. Hosting a plethora of different sushi options (appropriately including Flatiron and Mizu rolls), as well as a marvelous set of appetizers (Rock Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Tuna Gyoza give the sushi a run for its money!), and a warming house sake, the Mizu brand is singular for the area. What’s more, the quality is simply divine, and customers can get a bountiful chef’s meal for only $45!
How could a non-franchise restaurant survive with such prices in such an expensive city and still survive? “Each year our business has done better,” explains manager Kie. “While this area isn’t as crowded as it used to be when we opened, we still host a lot of office parties, and have many returning customers because of our always satisfying dishes.”
Kie even says that they plan to open a new location sometime in the near future, although they have yet to decide when and where. If this happens though, hopefully lightning will strike twice.
