I’m always a stickler for telling my friends to vacation in Long Island during the summer (and all year quite frankly). The food scene out there rivals New York City from Port Washington all the way to Orient Point, with many amazing restaurants located in between. One of those happens to be Tellers, an American Chophouse worth the drive or train ride for more reasons than one.
Tellers, located on Main Street in Islip, is in an area that looks just like Greenwich Village. It has a charming and inviting presence to it that is simply marvelous to be apart of especially during the summertime.
That’s just from an outside perspective. The inside of Tellers (which has been safely open for indoor dining for weeks now) is just divine. It is elegance in the most beautiful of ways with how they masterfully decorated its location from its seating arrangements, waiting area, bar and more.
What’s even more incredible about Tellers is that they have menu options that won’t break the bank. I say this because places that usually have “Chophouse” or “Steakhouse” attached to it might worry some because the price points are usually sky high. Not here as we were able to dive into their Power Lunch, served Monday to Friday between 12-3PM, that is only worth $19!
And you get a whole lot with that $19 to the point where you will leave feeling happy and satisfied. Here you can choose between three mouthwatering appetizer choices (Baby Wedge Salad, Black Pepper Bacon, Apple Pecan Salad), followed by one of four incredible entrees (Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwich, Tellers “Black Label” Burger, Hudson Valley Steelhead Salmon, Filet Tips Diane).
I have to highlight the “Black Label” burger here as its decadence is downright naughty. It’s deceptively simple: a perfectly made burger with Applewood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese with a side of fries. Their secret sauce, however, amplifies it to levels that made every single bite absolutely incredible. Oh, and please for the love of god get a side of their Duck Fat Fries. The regular fries are amazing, but, um, DUCK FAT! I don’t need to say anymore.
Outside of the prix fix menu there are other items that you should take a look at depending on how hungry you are. Something I was really impressed with was their Shrimp & Lobster Wontons which were filled to the brim with two of the most tasty types of seafood out there.
Even their “accessories”, or in easier terms side dishes, shine amid an Oscar winning menu of mains. Their Whipped Potatoes are some of the best potatoes I’ve ever had in my life as was their Lobster Mac & Cheese. Overall Tellers is a fabulous space to dish and dine at with your friends and I highly recommend you going there should you be heading to Long Island in the near future.
