Six may have been nominated for eight (Tonys, that is), but it’s hard to beat ten. That’s the magic number for organizers behind this year’s Tedx Broadway conference.
Since 2011, Co-Founder Jim McCarthy CEO of Stellar and Damian Bazadona President of Situation, have asked anyone who has a stake in the Broadway ecosystem to set aside a single day to come together to share new ideas and explore the possibilities to drive an industry forward.
“The response has been overwhelming. The event sells out every year, more than 3 million people have watched our talks in 14 languages online and this positive community just continues to grow,” said Damian in a recent press release. Adds Jim, “And, we’re just as committed to giving this community our all to help Broadway realize its best even sooner. We’re leaving it all out on that stage.”
On Tuesday, May 17th, their 10th Tedx Broadway event will occupy New World Stages, located in the heart of the theater district on 50th between 8th/9th. Livestream tickets for the event are $40. Tickets for the live event are $100 and are available here.
Last week, organizers announced appearances and/or talks by: Britton & The Sting, a funk liberation band, Irene Gandy, winner of the 2020 Tony Honors Excellence in Theatre Award and recent appointee to Drama League Board of Directors. She is the only Black female press agent member of ATPAM (Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers) for over 50 years, Jonathan Rockefeller and Rockefeller Productions, who have received global acclaim for their adaptations of such iconic works as Winnie the Pooh, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Paddington Bear, and Ruth Yomtoubian, a veteran of the first wave of corporate-startup innovation centers in Silicon Valley.
