True foodies will travel the globe to savor great food. Fortunately, New Yorkers won’t have to go that far to experience the metro area’s latest culinary haven. A PATH fare will suffice.
Earlier this month, Little Bar opened its doors in the trendy uptown section of Hoboken. The intimate space is a creation of Weng Lee, Michael Barry, and Chef Seadon Shouse, the trio behind Halifax, another local restaurant favorite located in Hoboken’s W Hotel.
Like Halifax, Little Bar focuses on seafood with small, shareable plates including house-made maple smoked salmon, tuna belly, pickled herring & mussels in escabeche (a Spanish pickling technique with herbs and spices). Those with deeper pockets can opt for a variety of caviar.

Not a seafood fan? Not a problem! The team has it covered with a selection of fresh dips and spreads and cured meats and cheeses- perfect for sharing with friends, family, lovers, potential new lovers, or future exes.
Speaking of romance, the intimate new space is an ideal spot for date night. Pass through the velvet curtains and enter an impeccably designed art deco space with colorful, yet classy wall murals. Unique glass candlelight adorns each table. At full capacity, the sound is never overpowering and one is able to conduct hushed conversations. Add that to the aphrodisiac of seafood and it’s an evening primed for sparks.

On warm evenings, take in the iconic and stunning Manhattan skyline, easily viewable just one block away from Little Bar.
With a fully stocked bar and extensive wine list, the world of libations is—pun intended-your oyster. Even non-drinkers can enjoy carefully crafted mocktails served in sophisticated coupe glasses.
Chef Shouse is not only skilled in the kitchen. He’s also a writer. With Anna-Kari Lejon, he’s released a cookbook slash memoir that chronicles his views of food and life in a beautifully photographed book called From the Hill by the Sea. As the holidays approach, keep it in mind for gifting to your favorite foodies.
Reservations book fast, so plan early in order to score a table. The entire restaurant can also be rented for private events. Little Bar exceeds huge expectations but given its pint size, it’s easy to miss. Just look for the vertical blue neon fish holding a martini glass. You’ve arrived at the right shore.
