Bottomless Brunch at KTCHN- This Includes Mimosas People!

by Ryan Shea

For anyone that lives in New York City, there is one thing that truly binds us together (and no I am not talking about the weird smells from the subway).  That of course, is food.  More importantly, the endless choices that we have for Saturday and Sunday brunch.  Whether you are looking for a great hangover meal or a relaxing place to meet up with a bunch of friends before the day gets going, we all are on the lookout for that savory and sweet place to wake us up and keep our tummies satisfied.  So where is a good place to find all of that?  KTCHN, in my opinion, is the place to go.

Located right outside Times Square on 42nd between 10th and 11th, KTCHN boasts a beautiful and friendly atmosphere.  The whole place has great bar setting right when you walk in, and an even lovelier restaurant space when you walk further back into it, kind of like you just walked out of a high end furniture store.  From the looks of the menu, KTCHN prides itself on American meets Mediterranean, a trend that is very popular in the food world currently.  Take a look at the fantastic menu for proof.

Me and a friend stopped by there yesterday for its Boozy Brunch special, which is $25 dollars for bottomless Mimosas (YAY!) and a choice from some of their classic KTCHN brunch dishes all for a great price of $25.  They do this every Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 11am and 3pm..  Some of the choices included the Cheddar Bacon omelette (what I chose, because you know, BACON),  Triple Stack Pancakes, Classic Eggs Benedict and Thick Cut French Toast just to name a few.  The omelette that I tried was paired with a green salad and their own version of hash browns topped with sour cream and chives.  What really made this dish pop visually was that it was presented very cleanly, yet filled you up without feeling like you were stuffed.

I got the chance to meet Chef Dale Schnell, has been with KTCHN for the past couple of years.  He said that on top of the Bottomless Brunchn that KTCHN is doing, they are also planning in a “Dinner & A Movie” night each Tuesday starting some time in the new year.  This is an idea that they have done before, where they take a movie and try to create dishes based off of that particular movie.  Ones that they have done in the past include my personal favorite, “Clueless” as well as “The Breakfast Club” and “Showgirls” just to name a few.  KTCHN has also partnered with The OUT NYC, a gay friendly hotel located right next to KTCHN.  Take a look at their website if you are looking to stay at one of the top hotels in New York City.  Also, be on the lookout for the drag duo

Overall the experience at KTCHN was amazing. From the food to the ambiance, it really is your one stop shop to go to on the weekends for all things brunch, and the weekdays for some of the best food in the city.  If you are ever in the Times Square area, check it out.  You definitely won’t be disappointed.  Also, check out Haus Of Mimosa, the funny drag duo, performing on Sunday’s between 11-3.  Here is their site for more info.
