Santos Party House was the only place to be this past Saturday night in New York City, as the 12th anniversary of the legendary bear event Furball got underway at 11pm and kept the party and crowd going all night long. Hosted by the amazing Joe Fiore, Furball provides the bear and bear loving community with another great opportunity to enjoy the presence of one another in the forms of dancing, hanging out, making out, and whatever else the need is in order to have a great night. This one was for the record books, and will pave the way for several great Furball’s to come.

The event was paired on two different floors, with the main floor blasting some of the sickest beats from amazing DJ’s W. Jeremy and Corey Craig, and John Michael and Jimmy DePre on the lower level. The stage also came complete with some of the hottest Gogo bears in the world, including Dahir Rivas, Zakh Michael, Mike Chapman, Matthew Scott, Stephen Mark Jr and yours truly, who provided some serious eye candy to gag on throughout the whole night. Standout tracks that we all enjoyed dancing to was the mashups of Whitney Houston/Rihanna, Adele/MIA and a personal favorite… Madonna’s “Vogue”. There was a delicious cake presented towards the end of the night to celebrate 12 years of this event arriving and thriving in NYC.

This event proves what a force the bear community has become, not only in New York City but worldwide, as we have become a focal point in what makes the gay community so diverse and events like Furball further prove that when the line is out the door for most of the night and the feedback from the event is particularly positive. I had an amazing time dancing with five other incredibly amicable and awesome guys, and being under the guidance of Joe Fiore, who has done wonders for this community. I hope the future events are just as amazing as the 12th anniversary was Saturday night.

Next up… Pride! Stay tuned.
