We have been so busy with Memorial Day and Father’s Day material on Manhattan Digest, on top of all the amazing NYC restaurants that we have been reviewing, that we forgot about our favorite shopping site Fab.com’s big award they received two weeks ago! Their iOS app won the Webby and People’s Voice Award in the category of “Mobile: Fashion & Beauty” for the 20th Annual Webby Awards!
Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of digital industry experts, including Tumblr Founder, David Karp, Executive Creative Director at Refinery29, Piera Gelardi, musicians Questlove & Grimes, Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen, Twitter Co-founder, Biz Stone, Jimmy Kimmel, and creator of the .gif file format, Steve Wilhite.
The Fab iOS app allows users to browse products from more than 500 emerging designers, artists, and brands, with the option to filter products by designer, category, color, and price. The “Hit me with your best shot” feature lets users discover new design products with a simple shake, and the Lifestyle section offers up creative content about living a bold, well-designed life. Buying on the app is easy and convenient with payment options, including credit card, Apple Pay, and Paypal.
According to David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards, “Fab has set the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet. This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.” Fab’s General Manager Renee Wong said, “At Fab, our priority is creating unexpected and innovative experiences that delight our customers. With our latest app redesign, we made every effort to create not just a seamless shopping experience, but a hub for emerging designers to tell their stories and be discovered by our community of design-lovers. We’re thrilled that the judges chose to recognize the beautiful, thoughtful work of our development and content teams, and we’re honored that our community rallied to give us the People’s Voice Award.”
