The Del Frisco’s brand here in Manhattan is very well known for so many reasons, given the copious amounts of locations that they have and the variety of tasty, modern cuisine that thousands of people have flocked to over the years. My excitement went to overdrive when I found out recently that they were opening up a new location in my hometown of Huntington Station, Long Island, right next the iconic Walt Whitman Mall. Last night, I took myself and my friend there to experience all over again (first time for her though), just how amazing this place really is, and why you should stop by the next time you are in Long Island and on the way to The Hamptons.

The spot that Del Frisco’s took over from its predecessor is literally night and day when it comes to execution of design and space. It is brightly lit, with beautiful wood furnishings adorned throughout. For the after-hours crowd, they have a wonderful bar located to the left of entrance, as well as some great “al fresco” dining that you can enjoy with the warmer weather being in effect over the next couple of months. Also, for all the straight ladies and gay men out there, a big selling point that Del Frisco’s has is their bartender Frank, who my friend practically wanted to leave her fiancée for. Trust me, I’m doing you a favor if you want to enjoy your night just with him alone, but of course, there is so much more to this amazing location!

The amazing food provided is at the helms of executive chef Seth Barton, a Florida native who has made his way around the culinary scene in New York for quite some time, much of it being with the Del Frisco’s brand. Del Frisco’s really knows how to cater to its audience who wants big and bold flavors in sharable portions to begin with and end with for dessert, and for the solo meals during the entrée portion of the evening. For their appetizers, or they call “Food to Fight Over”, there are a couple of recommendations that you must try the next time you go. For one, they are known for their Cheesesteak Eggrolls with a sweet and spicy chili sauce and Honey Mustard. The Eggrolls itself are bursting with cheesesteak flavor, and the chili sauce and honey mustard really tie it together to make it a great starter meal. Another great way to start your evening is their Lollipop Chicken Wings, made buffalo style, with avocado ranch dressing to cool your palate down. Love that they really are in lollipop form, and have a great amount of heat to them in which the ranch dressing battles the heat and makes it a tasty starter.

Can’t get enough of those two as starter options? I didn’t think so J. Their Jumbo Lump Crabcake is absolutely amazing, and is swimming in a yummy Cajun Lobster Sauce. Just the right portion to enjoy by yourself or with your guest of choice. If you are really jonesing for a great soup, I would recommend their Roasted Corn Bisque with Crema & Tortilla. I am a huge fan of bisques in the first place, and this one is just the right amount of flavor, thickness and depth, that It really makes for a great soup option. They also have a great line of flatbreads to try out, including Roasted Tomato and Wild Mushroom, to name a few.

Moving along to the entrees, Del Frisco’s has a great line of steaks to try, including Filet Mignon, New York Prime Strip and Prime Ribeye, to name a few. We opted for a couple of alternatives that still pack a punch and will leave you happy and full. In their “two-fisted sandwiches”, I recommend trying their Shaved Prime Steak Sandwich with au jus and horseradish sauce. Essentially it is a steak version of a classic French Dip, with the au jus really coming in for home plate with the perfectly cooked steak sandwich and delicious frites to pair with it. For their knife and fork options, I went with a great mixture of pasta & beef in their Prime Beef Short Rib Stroganoff, with Pappardelle Noodles, Sour Cream and Tobacco Onions. I’m a noodle snob in the first place, and these were perfectly prepared and the mixture of them with all the other ingredients made for a hearty and tasty entrée.

If you still have room left in your stomach for dessert, I would recommend two great options- their Coconut Cream Pie with white chocolate shavings, and their Nutella Bread Pudding with coffee ice cream & caramel drizzle. Heavenly finishes to a great meal, if you are a lover of Nutella, chocolate or coconut (I’m sure anyone fits into one of those categories). Overall, this was a great experience that I recommend anyone trying. For more information on Del Frisco’s, check out their official site. And ask for Tyler as your waiter, he’s awesome.
