Beyonce & Adele Lead Nominations at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards

MTV revealed the nominees for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards this afternoon, on a Facebook Live broadcast from New York City, during which “Video of the Year” Nominees Adele, Beyoncé, Drake, Justin Bieber and Kanye West were unveiled with a larger-than-life street mural.  This year’s ceremony is taking place here in Manhattan at Madison Square Garden on August 28th.  Beyonce leads all nominees with a career-setting 11 nominations, with Adele right behind her with 8 nominations.

Besides Adele and Beyonce, the Video of the Year nominees are a who’s who of past nominees and VMA winners, including Justin Bieber for his massive hit “Sorry”, Drake for his song of the summer in 2015 “Hotline Bling”, and Kanye West, for his highly-controversial video “Famous”.  Other big nominees include Rihanna, Bryson Tiller, Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony to name a few.

Beginning today, fans can vote for their favorites in VMA categories including, “Video of The Year,” “Best Male Video,” “Best Female Video,” new category, “Breakthrough Long Form Video” and more by visiting vma.mtv.com.  Vote across all categories to enter to win the chance to go to the VMAs in NYC, thanks to Verizon, the presenter of this year’s award voting. Additionally, voting for the “Best New Artist” award, presented by Taco Bell®, will remain live through the 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards” Pre-Show airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and new this year, fans can cast their votes for the category via Facebook Messenger (starting 8/15).  The top two artists will be revealed during the pre-show, kicking off a live hashtag vote with the winner being announced during the live main telecast.  Nominees for the socially voted category, “Best Song of Summer,” will be announced at a later date.
