Naturally, when I even hear the word(s) taco/burrito/burrito bowl/enchilada, etc, my heart rate rises, my forehead gets sweaty and I get giddy with anticipation in the thought that I could be having one or more of them within a ten minute time frame. With the Olympics kicking off this weekend, my favorite Tex-Mex place in Manhattan has a plan for you to win free burritos for an entire year, meaning that all of those factors that I previously discussed combined every day could lead me to lose a ton of weight due to the sheer excitement that I could be the Willy Wonka of Tres Carnes!

Tres Carnes, the Texican fast-casual eatery with a flagship location in Flatiron, wants you to celebrate the Summer Olympic season by trying your hand at winning free burritos for the year. Lucky winners who find a golden-wrapped burrito, should head to Instagram, post a picture and tag #GoldenBurrito to be entered to win the ultimate prize of free burritos for an entire year! Tres Carnes will also introduce their smokiest, meatiest, Churrasco-inspired weekly smokes for the month of August to celebrate the Summer Olympics taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Texan Pitmaster Mike Rodriguez who smokes his meat on-site for 16 hours and Executive Chef Sasha Shor are excited to debut Ribeye, Leg of Lamb, Pork Belly and Short Rib weekly smoke dishes over the course of the month this August. Accompanying their new Churrasco-inspired burritos, bowls and tacos are new scrumptious Rio style sauces including Brazilian Sweet Pepper Vinaigrette, Spicy Orange “Mojo” Ranch, Parsley & Garlic Aioli and a Cilantro Chimichurri.

Tres Carnes serves up one of a kind slow cooked fast served barbeque, dubbed Texas Smoked Mexican or Texican for short. Every day, Tres Carnes offers three meats (chicken, brisket and pork) in addition to a special weekly smoke, which can be anything from smoked chorizo, to free range antelope. This is one Texican spot deep in the heart of the Big Apple unlike the rest. To check out my past reviews of Tres Carnes (which were spellbinding, mind you), click here.
