When it was announced that CoCo Montrese had been chosen as one of the queens to come back and represent in the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2, I’m sure the drag world breathed a collective sigh of vindicated relief. Never one to shy away from snatching a title from a queen, she became the face of tenacity under fire, lip syncing for her life a record 4 times during season 5 and eventually knocking out her arch rival Alyssa Edwards in episode 9 before being eliminated on episode 10. All the while she was scrutinized for everything from her age to her “orange” look, but she held her head high and threw green shade at all of those in her path, making them bow and seethe with envy. Now we know what she meant when she said “I’m not joking bitch!”
For this season of All Stars she is reunited with 5 of her costars from season 5, including Miss Edwards. Will this reignite old alliances, or will the antagonists or her past scheme do bring her down? Will she find new consortiums to commingle? With new rules, new twists and an all new lip sync for their legacy, one thing is for sure, this will be a season like no other.
I had a chance to sit down one on one with CoCo to talk about her life since RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 and her thoughts on the new season of All Stars. What were you doing when you found out you were going to be on the new Season of RPDR All Stars?
I was getting ready for the show on Las Vegas Strip at the casino when I was told I’d be on All Stars 2.
Tell me one thing about this new season that was surprising?
One thing about the new season that was surprising was the reunion of so many queens from Season 5. (5 out of the 10) Like in all Families this reunion could be a good thing or a bad thing.
You must have a ton of fans from being on the show. What is one of your favorite fan encounter stories.
My favorite fan encounter was in Brazil the all fans were just incredible! The love, joy and laughter was very refueling.
Of the new season of queens who would you want to have your back in a bar fight?
In a bar fight I’d want Adore Delano to have my back. She’s always the life of the party!
What is your beauty regimen essential that you swear by and can’t live without?
Can’t live without my Neutrogena wipes it get all the makeup off in one swipe and leave the face hydrated and moist.
Who is your celebrity crush?
My celebrity crush is Michael Phelps.
