Getting to Know World Renowned Record Executive Michael Alago

by Leland Coffey

Michael Alago

On a beautiful sunny Monday in October while I was in New York City, I had the opportunity to meet with Michael Alago.  In previous conversations, he had expressed interest in photographing me for Rough Gods.  When we first began to talk, I had no idea that he was the person who signed Metallica to Elektra Records and that his career was so multi-faceted.  But from the moment I saw him, it was evidently clear that he was the epitome of a true eclectic artist. One on One with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Erika Jayne!

by Leland Coffey

It takes a woman with an exceptional presence to make any kind of lasting impression in the world of the public juggernaut that is the “Housewives” franchises.  Erika Jayne is that woman.  Feisty, provocative, glamorous and drop dead gorgeous, yet well spoken and refined, she was a much needed addition to season 6 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  Known also by her married name Erika Girardi, she has said that she created Erika Jayne as her alter ego to keep her stage persona as a separate entity from who she really is.

One on One with RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star Coco Montrese!

by Leland Coffey

When it was announced that CoCo Montrese had been chosen as one of the queens to come back and represent in the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2, I’m sure the drag world breathed a collective sigh of vindicated relief.  Never one to shy away from snatching a title from a queen, she  became the face of tenacity under fire, lip syncing for her life a record 4 times during season 5 and eventually knocking out her arch rival Alyssa Edwards in episode 9 before being eliminated on episode 10.  All the while she was scrutinized for everything from her age to her “orange” look, but she held her head high and threw green shade at all of those in her path, making them bow and seethe with envy.  Now we know what she meant when she said “I’m not joking bitch!” [Read more…] about One on One with RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star Coco Montrese!

Our Exclusive with RuPaul’s Drag Race Superstar Katya!

by Leland Coffey

When it comes to beloved queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, one word that comes to mind easily is Katya.  Katya was one of the breakout stars of season seven for so many different reasons, in particular her hilarious personality, comic timing, great fashion, and openness about her troubled past.  It made the choice for Miss Congeniality that season a no brainer, to the point where there was even a fake out at the finale for her to win over the real winner, Violet Chachki. One on One With RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star Adore Delano

by Leland Coffey

If there was ever a title for “The Little Engine That Could” for RuPaul’s Drag Race, it would clearly be season six superstar Adore Delano.  Fresh faced Adore stormed into season six of the incredibly popular series already being known for another big show (American Idol), yet this was the first time that America saw her amazing drag persona.  Little over two years later, and she has not only conquered the drag scene, but the music industry as well.

Travel Idea! Where to Eat in Charleston, South Carolina

by Leland Coffey

Living in the Upstate of South Carolina, I am on the complete opposite end of the state in relation to Charleston.  But it’s just a short 4 hour drive and always well worth the visit.  It has an old world charm that is infectious, and the people are among the friendliest you will ever cross paths with.  Just don’t be offended when they call you “sir” or “ma’am”.  It doesn’t mean you’re old; it’s a form of southern cordiality and respect.
