Bear parties are always fun to go to in Manhattan, and the “Beefcake” series are tops in terms of the diversity of men that show up, great music, fun atmosphere, and the ability to be yourself and not feel judged. That is how every bear and gay event should be, and Saturday night’s Beefcake Returns exemplified that and more when it hit up Club Remix.

Beefcake, hosted by actor and nightlife mainstay Chris Reed, chose quite the unique location for the event this past weekend. Club Remix is located right next to the Park Place stop off the 2/3 train, which was super convenient given some of the other locations that bear events take place which can seem far and obsolete. The financial district is generally dead after 5:00 PM and on the weekends, however the presence of Beefcake definitely lit it up for a short time frame with hundreds of guys having fun.

The entertainment was in full swing, as myself and a hand full of other guys acted as the gogo dancers of the evening. On top of that, the music selections by DJ Kurt Jo was fantastic as it ranged from modern day hits including Bruno Mars and Azealia Banks to retro 90’s classics that we all grew up with and loved. The space itself was one big room downstairs, with a separate room where you could have your photo taken while enjoying time with your friends. Overall, it was a great event and I look forward to being at more “Beefcake” related ones to come.

Beefcake does a great job at making you feel welcome, no matter who you are. Other bear events as of late are catering towards a muscled crowd, which can leave a good portion of our community feeling without. This event does the exact opposite, and is a great example of why this community needs unity and not separation as the years go by. It is definitely one that I recommend you checking out in the future.
