When it comes to bar experiences in Manhattan, many of them run the muck in terms of being overcrowded, overpriced and generally not a fun time. e’s BAR, however, negates all of that and makes going to the bar a pleasant and overall great time with your friends, family or even by yourself. Here’s why.
e’s BAR has now been opened for three years in the Upper West Side, which for bars/restaurants in Manhattan can really seem like 10 or 15 years given the competitive market that it is in. I can see why they have a great amount of success as the owners Erin Bellard and Ethan Hunt always have an upbeat and friendly attitude which radiates throughout the location itself. Here’s the full run down of this super awesome location-

Nestled in the heart of the Upper West Side, e’s BAR is perfectly designed with pops of color, sticker graffiti and even Polaroids of the patrons that add warmth to an already cozy ambiance. You’ll only hear tunes from 1960 to 1999 courtesy of their jukebox and after 6 p.m., plan your date night because no kids are allowed. With over 150 board games to borrow, you’ll see people playing dirty dare Jenga, Connect Four or Cards Against Humanity. Happily missing is a room full of people basking in the glow of their cell phones. With its addictively casual, yet upscale atmosphere and eclectic mix of patrons all socializing beautifully, e’s BAR is the place you want to go to every night of the week.

All of that makes total sense as I got that vibe when I went there last night. I love how they can blend old school traditions of card games, trivia and so much more in a modern and really awesome setting. Matt Murphy Designs did a wonderful job executing e’s BAR, as it is quite large for an Upper West Side location. The hidden bathroom, l-shaped bar, photographs of major female stars (we sat under Cyndi Lauper) and more made this a very eclectic and unique experience which me and my friend loved.

The food itself was general bar food, which works in this setting, and there were a couple of standouts. Their vegetarian items, surprisingly, were our favorites with the Grilled Asparagus & Cup O’Crisp Green Beans being our favorite as they were packed with a ton of great flavor. I also loved their Brownie Sundae, which is a traditional sundae with brownie, vanilla ice cream and a bourbon caramel sauce. Yum. Overall, the experience was a great one and I highly recommend e’s BAR in 2017 for all of this and so much more.
