Father’s Day is only a couple of days away, happening this coming Sunday! This is the one day a year to really celebrate the father in your life in the best way possible and tell him how much he means to you. This love can be shown in many different ways, but no matter what, food and some type of gift (maybe a hammock?) is a must to be on the list for Father’s Day itself! We here at Manhattan Digest have found some pretty sweet ideas for how to celebrate in style for that special guy!
Take a look at where we think you should go, and what you should buy him for the big day. Happy Father’s Day everyone!

The Best Restaurants-
Boulton + Watt (5 Avenue A) is offering a fool-proof opportunity to buy a round and toast your pa with a buy-1-get-one-free drink special. Simply purchase a beer for dad and you get one free for being such a generous offspring. It’ll also give you an excuse to dig into their famous fries and chocolate-chip skillet cookie. Win-win!
If your dad is more of an outdoors man, head straight to Chinatown’s new Bowery Beer Garden (93 Bowery) for specials that will run over the Father’s Day Weekend (Saturday, June 17th – Sunday, June 18th). Exclusively for that weekend, their kitchen is serving up a mouth-watering “Big Dad Burger” with dad’s choice of a complementary Man-mosa or Bloody Mary style oyster shooter. Pull up a seat in front of one of their 80 HD TV’s and truly make dad’s day!
If a chic East Village dinner to outshine your siblings is more your style, The VNYL (100 3rd Ave) is treating father to a Woody Creek Rye Old Fashioned on-the-house with any meal purchased from their special day menu. Choose from a $45 and $55 prix fixe 3 course menu, which includes options like Maryland Blue Claw Crab Devilled Eggs, Togarashi Yellowfin Tuna and Bavette Steak, carefully crafted by VNYL’s renowned new Exectuvie Chef Roy Wohlars. Doors open at 5 pm and reservations can be made by emailing [email protected].

What makes Dad happier than burgers and beer? On Father‘s Day, 5 Napkin Burger is offering a special Father’s Day Burger & Beer Flight ($24) available at all four New York City locations! Enjoy the dynamic duo starting with the BBQ Bacon Ranch Burger with a 10 ounce beef patty slathered with housemade barbecue-ranch sauce, pilled high with crispy bacon strips, fried spicy cheese curds, pickled spring onions and lettuce on the restaurant’s signature potato bun. For the beer, a Craft Beer Flight includes three 7-ounce pours of Sam Adams Seasonal Summer Ale, Coney Island Double Header IPA and Coney Island Tunnel of Love Watermelon Wheat.
What dad doesn’t love old-school Italian? At Chazz Palminteri Ristorante Italiano, the generous portions match the big Italian-style hospitality. Enjoy the four-course prix fixe menu ($95.95 per person) for Father’s Day and enjoy choices of Paccheri con le Polpette (sautéed with meatballs, eggplant, tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella), Linguine di Dave (linguine sautéed with red pepper, chopped broccoli rabe, cherry tomatoes, shrimp, lobster, garlic-olive oil sauce) and Pollo di Nikola (chicken scaloppini with prosciutto, spinach, mozzarella, madela sauce). Make sure Dad saves room for dessert so he can enjoy the Strudel di Mele (warm apple strudel) or Crepes Farcite (crepes with chocolate, vanilla ice cream, berries) and many other choices!
Treat Dad like a king and treat him to dinner at Empire Steak House. Both locations of the classic steakhouse are offering a four-course prix fixe menu ($74.95 per person) that includes a choice of Prime Sirloin Steak, Filet Mignon or Prime Rib Eye (chicken, seafood and pasta entrees are also available). Dinner includes a choice of appetizer, salad, side and dessert. Pull out all the stops and treat Dad to a single malt Scotch from Empire Steak House’s extensive scotch list (more than 100 to choose from!) — it’s the perfect prelude to his after-dinner cigar, compliments of the house.
For all those meat-loving dads, spend Father‘s Day dining at Wall Street’s newly opened Kesté Pizza & Vino and enjoy acclaimed Pizziolo Roberto Caporuscio’s meaty Macellaio ($24) aka “The Butcher” pizza. This original Neapolitan pie is loaded with four different meats — sausage, porchetta, salami crespona and prosciutto di parma — along with pamigiano reggiano, tomato sauce, homemade mozzarella and basil.
Treat your dad to an incredible meal at Chelsea’s MEGU where Top Chef alum, Frances Tariga will be cooking exciting dishes just for Father‘s Day. Specials will include Ramen Bun Wagyu Sliders ($18), Smoked Whole Branzino ($56) with fennel and yuzu slaw and a Molten Vanilla Cake ($14) to top it all off!
Treat Dad to a Strip at Strip House this Father’s Day. The iconic NYC steakhouse will be offering delicious specials at both locations. Specials at their downtown location including Hudson Valley Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Pâté, Prime 24 oz T-Bone Steak and Bulleit Bourbon & Tahitian Vanilla Crème Caramel, while at their Midtown location you can try their Housemade Muscovy Duck Bacon, 6 oz. Masami Ranch Wagyu Ribeye & 8 oz. Saffron Butter-Poached Lobster Tail or Apple Tarte Tartin.

Virgil’s BBQ is showing their appreciation for dad with 90 minutes of unlimited Virgil’s Ale (the restaurant’s signature draft beer brewed by Magic Hat Brewing Company) with the purchase of any entree. We recommend dad pairs this light and crisp draft with Virgil’s famous Pig Out Platter which includes Memphis Style Pork Spare Ribs, Sliced Texas Beef Brisket, Carolina Pulled Pork, Quartered BBQ Chicken and two sides on a platter for one!
