Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse has been delighting Manhattanites and their taste buds for over twenty years now, with its first location opening up back in 1996. With two spots available in Midtown and Hell’s Kitchen, Uncle Jack’s sets themselves apart with its ambiance, sophisticated service, and fantastic food options that make this place one of our favorites we have stopped by in quite some time.
Steakhouses run the muck here in Manhattan, as they are forever in competition with each other as to who is the best in terms of not only the best steak but the overall experience they want each guest to have. Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse gets this right in a lot of areas, and they recently provided myself and a friend with a tasting that actually saw their appetizers and salads outweigh the actual steak itself.
No shade to the steak, it was superb, but these other dishes tickled our fancies in many ways as excelled in what steakhouses can really provide outside of the Filet Mignon options we see on each menu. Here is what I recommend to you the next time you find yourself inside Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse.
For a place that is very meat heavy, I was surprised that the first option that we had just might have been the best thing we ate all night. Their Shrimp & Lobster Dumplings were perfectly cooked, had a tender texture to them while swimming in this absolutely delicious broth that we spooned until the bowl was completely dry. For anyone who is a shrimp or dumpling lover like I am, this would be a fantastic starter dish that we really loved.
I lost my mind at this next dish, for one particular reason. Their Thick Cut Maple Glazed Bacon by itself was absolute heaven, as I love how sweet and savory can really pair themselves very well together and this is no exception. Underneath the bacon, however, was a peanut butter sauce that provided such a different element and contrast to the bacon itself that was superb and might be one of my favorite appetizers I have had in quite some time.
For anyone who likes to have a good and hearty salad before diving into their steak, I would recommend their Fresh Buffalini Mozzarella Salad with organic greens, basil threads and a balsamic reduction. Anytime you have a beefsteak tomato with a huge chunk of fresh mozzarella and some balsamic is a good thing, and this is a great steakhouse type salad that prepares you for what’s next.
Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse has a ton of fantastic USDA Dry-Aged Prime Meats and Steaks to choose from, and it seems to be something they take a ton of pride in. We were provided with a selection from their New York Strip Steak, which was a little tough for my tasting but the sauces that came with it made me forget about that and I really enjoyed the dish.
You always need a good supporting cast for a steak like this, and they have a ton of fabulous sides including Five Cheese Mac, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and so much more. Overall, Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse provided us with a fantastic tasting menu, some wonderful service and so much more that would make us RSVP their time and time again.
