Celebrate National Scotch Day at These Manhattan Hotspots!

by Ryan Shea

National Scotch Day hits this coming Thursday, July 27th!  The first thing that always comes to mind for this is Will Ferrell in “Anchorman” where he says “Scotchy Scotch Scotch”, which actually became a limited flavor for Ben & Jerry’s.  I’m diverting from the point here though! This is the one day where scotch lovers (like myself) can enjoy and rejoice in all of its scotchy glory, and luckily we have found some great spots all around NYC that are doing some big things to celebrate the day.

Check out these locations that are going all out to celebrate National Scotch Day!  And of course, please drink responsibly.

DiWine Restaurant & Wine Bar not only provides a sultry and seductive atmosphere for sipping Scotch with its curtain-draped banquettes, cozy tables for two and low lighting, it also offers the perfect cocktail!  The Lord’s Work ($12) is a mix of Scotch, Apple Jack, Cointreau, bourbon and orange bitters.  And because National Scotch Day falls on a Thursday – live music night at DiWine – guests can enjoy acoustic guitar music along with their cocktails and company. More info here.

Handcraft Kitchen & Cocktails offers a variety of choices when it comes to blended and single-malt Scotch. Included in this popular East Side spot’s collection are Sheep Dip ($14) blended with 16 different single malt whiskies aged between eight and 20 years all specially selected to create a full-bodied flavor, Peat Monster ($15) offering a blend of smoky Island and Highland single malts, and, of course a range of singles that include Macallan Rare Cask ($40), Oban 14 ($16), Auchentoshan American Wood ($14) and The Glenlivet Nadurra ($18).  More info here.

Blu on Park offers a gorgeous bar where guests can sit and sip a varied selection of blended and single malt Scotch, including classics such as Chivas 25 ($75), Johnny Walker Blue ($55), Glenmorangie 25 ($145) and Glenfiddich 12 ($14).  All can be enjoyed on their own, or with one of this modern steakhouse’s meaty bar offerings such as Beef Sliders with provolone and homemade sauce, Beef Skewers with chimichurri sauce, and the Burger a la Blu with chimichurri, cheddar and hand-cut French fries.  More info here.

Celebrate National Scotch Day in style, all week, at the highest outdoor terrace bar in New York City, Bar SixtyFive at Rainbow Room. The iconic bar will be offering the delicious Isle in the Skye scotch cocktail made with the unique Isle of Skye 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky. Head up to the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center on Wednesday 7/26, Thursday 7/27, Friday 7/28 and Sunday 7/30 to imbibe on this special cocktail while enjoying incredible views.
