Maven is one of our favorite apps to use as of late here at Manhattan Digest, as the top of the line car sharing service saves you the time and hassle you would have at other car rental locations and gives you a stress free experience while cruising around in style. The car sharing service is now in 17 different cities across America (one being Manhattan), and has now expanded their services all the way out on Long Island in the popular area of East Hampton.
Long Island is always an area that is encouraged to head to, especially during the summertime when Manhattanites try to get out of the sweltering heat into some fun in the water and sun (maybe a great restaurant too?). Now with Maven, that experience can be that much greater with fantastic deals on an amazing suite of cars, top of the line technology in them, and more.

Here’s a little more about Maven. Maven is a connected, seamless car-sharing experience that includes new vehicles loaded with technology, connectivity and features. Members can reserve premium GM cars by using the mobile app, and hourly rates start as low as $8 plus tax. Maven has no membership or application fees, and gas and insurance are included with your reservation.
I recently spoke with Brent Taylor, Maven’s general manager here in New York about the business, expansion and a special deal for Manhattan Digest readers!
How long has Maven been around for, and what was the inspiration when starting it?
About a year and a half ago, Maven launched a residential car sharing pilot program in New York City. Since then, Maven has expanded to 17 cities across the United States and has grown its portfolio from a purely residential offering to now include an on-demand public car sharing service Maven City, as well as an offering catered to the gig economy, Maven Gig. Maven was designed to address overall urban growth trends and the need for mobility as a service. GM saw a need for access to seamless, on-demand car sharing – especially in large cities like New York with historically low individual car ownership. Today, Maven has evolved into one of the fastest-growing mobility brands in North America that is focused on providing an elevated car sharing experience, tailored for the needs of its members.
What separates Maven from the pack when it comes to a car-sharing experience?
Maven is all about helping people be there for the moments that matter the most. One of the ways we enable that is by making our experience seamless. Members have access to cars through a Maven mobile app, where they can locate and reserve vehicles in their market. Once a reservation is active, members can then unlock and lock the vehicle with the app, essentially using their smart phone as the key. Our cars and SUVs are hand-picked and have options that our members love – including leather, heated and cooled seats, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, OnStar and Apple Car Play.
The great thing about Maven is that we understand the individuality of each of the 17 cities across the US and Canada we currently offer service in. We applied this curated approach to our portfolio selection for New York and East Hampton as Maven vehicles should reflect the lifestyle of those who are driving them.
What is your most popular vehicle that is rented in New York?
Demand has been consistent across all Models and Makes available within our Maven NYC fleet of 80+ vehicles.
Tell us more about the expansion to the Hamptons and why it’s so important for the summertime?
In May, we expanded our operations with the rollout of Maven City in Manhattan, followed shortly with the launch of a boutique operation in the Hamptons. As one of the most popular summer destinations for New York City residents in the summer, the Hamptons has limited car and ride sharing options for its many seasonal visitors. Maven’s footprint at the East Hampton Airport ensures that New Yorkers’ mobility is uninterrupted even outside of the city itself. The Cadillac Escalade and the Cadillac XT5 onsite at the Airport are currently available for hourly and daily reservations and offer travelers easy access to on-demand transportation.
