With its location being only a block away from the Queensboro Plaza subway station, Oro is primed to become one of your new favorite restaurant spots in the heart of Long Island City. The location, which is easily accessible via the N-R-7 lines and only about a 15-20 minute commute away from the city, is ambiance personified with its relaxing and spacious seating, great event space for any parties you would like to have, and of course some wonderful food that is taking Modern Italian to a whole other level.
The space at Oro itself is quite beautiful to look at, as it plays a sharp contrast to the gritty streets on the outside. Long Island City is becoming yet another up and coming area in our area, and will is slowly getting there in terms of pulling Manhattanites out of their comfort level and seeing what else is out there for us. This spot is a great indication of things to come for this area.

Oro’s space is pretty much evenly divided between a plush bar area, comfortable seating for their dining customers, and then another side for events as previously discussed. It works on all cylinders for whatever sort of mood you are in, and the staff was incredibly accommodating in doing so.

The food was pretty top notch at Oro, although I do think the presentation of the food itself could have been a little bit better in my honest opinion. Nevertheless, I love Italian food, and they excelled in what they presented us. Highlight dishes for us included a classic like their Caprese Salad, Tomato Bruschetta, Lobster Ravioli with Shrimp and Champagne Sauce (super bonus), and Chicken Marsala with Mushrooms and a Marsala Wine. The standout of all of these was actually the Marsala Wine sauce in the Chicken Marsala, as I have had this dish so many times and always find the sauce lacking yet they really hit it out of the park with theirs. Also, the Champagne Sauce in the Lobster Ravioli actually fared better than the ravioli itself, just by a hair, which is rare when a delicacy like lobster is usually the star of the show.

Overall, Oro did a wonderful job at providing a great experience for me and my friend, and I look forward to seeing what this year old restaurant will do in the future!
