The 90’s seem to be in full swing in 2017 as there has been so much in the entertainment field that is celebrating the amazing decade that was. Pepsi has brought themselves into the mix where they celebrated the first stop on their Crystal Pepsi Throwback Tour right outside Yankee Stadium at Billy’s Sports Bar. Radio legend Angie Martinez played host to the event where music superstar Busta Rhymes took the stage and performed some of his biggest hits.
This first stop is one of many that will lead up to the release of the iconic 90s clear cola – which will be available on shelves on August 14 for one last limited time across the U.S. Billy’s Sports Bar was a perfect spot for something like this, as it got the crowd going before the actual game started around 7:30 PM.
The VIP area had a ton of nostalgia in there, as the 90’s kid in me was getting their life on with the assortment of throwback candy there like Pop Rocks and Ring Pops with food that were 90’s classics like Bagel Bites and Corn Dogs (yas calories, yas). There was also a ton of Crystal Pepsi products available to indulge in, including specialty drinks that were made at the bar with it as an ingredient.
Around 6:15 PM, Angie Martinez came on stage to bring out Busta who put on an amazing performance in a very short period of time. He performed some of his biggest hits including “Fire It Up” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See”, as well as ones he was featured in including Lumidee’s “Never Leave You”. The concert was free for all who wanted to attend, and the spaciousness of Billy’s Sports Bar for people to enjoy the concert was definitely not left unnoticed.
This evening will be followed by concerts across other cities in the United States, including Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath in Phoenix on August 11th and Salt-N-Pepa in Miami on the 13th. For more information about the tour, please check out their official website.
