Cocktail lounges in Manhattan run the muck, with many of them having a dark presence with nothing really that outstanding to look at. The Skylark is the exact opposite of that premise, as the location whisks you off to its 30th floor where you will see spectacular views of Manhattan with some tasty bites and unique drinks to make your experience truly one of a kind.

Conveniently located only a block from Times Square, The Skylark has billed itself as Manhattan’s newest premier cocktail lounge. And rightfully so. This space holds many events throughout the year, most notably their amazing The Tony Awards IBM Watch Party, to which myself and a guest was in attendance and was the first time where I really understood just how special this place is.

There is an aura about it, with its clean and sophisticated presence of comfortable couches, seating and colorful atmosphere that make for not only a fun but very relaxing experience. This is not a place where you come dressed in a t-shirt and basic shorts, you want to look your best given that the location is doing the same. It’s a bit of a no brainer here.
I stopped by a couple of days ago towards the end of the US Open, which they were playing while myself and a friend indulged in their variety of “tapas” type food, drink and an overall fabulous experience.

Regarding their food, here is what I recommend you trying as each of these dishes were compact yet filling its in execution. The General Tsao’s Crispy Cauliflower was a standout, as you combine my favorite type of Chinese food’s sauce and vegetables for a great crunch with amazing flavor.

The Buffalo Chicken Lollipops were also one of our top picks, as well as their Mac & Cheese Cupcakes and Barbecued Short Rib Bites. Bar food can tend to taste the same on many occasions, although when they are elevated to taste and look good as The Skylark’s version, you develop a better mindset on what items like these can truly taste. Simply delicious.

You of course have to have a cocktail while there, and the one we kept going back for over and over again was their Watermelon Mule. This came with Tito’s Vodka, lime, agave, muddled watermelon cubes, ginger beer and spiked watermelon cubes. It was a watermelon bonanza yet didn’t overpower the overall drink, and made for a bunch of really tasty sips as the summer is coming to a close. Overall, I would recommend The Skylark for so many reasons, as it really is a fun experience that anyone who lives or is visiting in Manhattan should try for themselves.
