It’s not very often that this Manhattanite will travel beyond boroughs, especially on the weekend when getting out of it can be a major hassle. However when there is food, this guy will travel. Brooklyn has been a borough that we have covered parts of for Manhattan Digest before, and may be doing more of now based on this new fantastic restaurant that is located not too far from NYC proper. The Osprey, located inside 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, just opened a couple of weeks ago and has developed a fabulous brunch menu that will make you want to hop on a subway (or for me, an Uber) and stop by there for some scintillating dishes.

The perks in going to The Osprey really are as easy as using the word “window”. With the sun beaming on a bright Sunday afternoon, myself and two friends stopped there which still has its culinary “new car” smell of sorts. Meaning, it’s beaming in fresh looks as you look out beyond the restaurant itself and gaze into the beauty that is the location around it. The inside is stunning as well, brightly lit, spacious, and above all a fun and friendly atmosphere to be in. The entrance to 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge has a similar feel to it, so you are somewhat prepared for what you are going into, which isn’t a bad thing at all!
Although the brunch menu is limiting, it is still chock full of a bunch of yummy and savory options one would expect from eating their first meal at 2PM in the afternoon.
If you are looking for something sweet, then their Bread Pudding French Toast will totally do the trick. This has bitter and sweet elements to it in its lemon curd, whipped ricotta, mixed berries and basil that make for a sinful and delicious brunch option.

Want a mixture of lunch and brunch that will satisfy you and keep you full? Their Fried Chicken & Parmesan Waffle is the answer for you. It is a crispy chicken breast with stracciatella and a a Calabrian chili honey so you have a good mixture of spicy, hearty and sweet all in one option.

Finally, if you are a burger lover like me, then their option with Happy Valley beef, cheddar, malt vinegar onions and paprika sauce with a side of french fries is a classic option that never really goes out of style!
