We here at Manhattan Digest have been noticing how Harlem is becoming quite the foodie city in The Big Apple. Our first spot that truly made us realize this was Corner Social, which is conveniently located off the 2/3 line at 126th and Lenox. When we went earlier this year, it was strictly dinner (which was the bomb). Now it’s brunch time, and our bibs, forks and knives were ready.

Corner Social is broken down into two fantastic words that exemplifies what it means to be a great spot to hang out in. The corner literally means the corner of 126th and Lenox, and social is exactly the feeling that you get when you walk in, as it is full of a bunch of stylish and hip people who gather for some great food and drink and chit chat about their lives.
As great as their dinner was, their brunch was just as fantastic as this spot knows how to put the heart in the food that they provide, and leave you feeling full and satisfied upon completion. What’s even better is that their menu is full of the classics, nothing out of the ordinary, but then again, does it always have to be something brand spanking new that New Yorkers haven’t tried yet? I don’t think so, and that’s a compliment as far as I see it.
Let’s break this one down here, as it’s good to combine the best of both worlds when enjoying your brunch bonanza. For me, their Chicken & Waffles slathered in syrup do the trick. Buttermilk waffles, dipped Fried Chicken, and a fruit salad in the middle to cool things down. Simple, fun, plated beautifully, and tastes fantastic. If they ever want to enter themselves in a Chicken & Waffles competition, this is a dish that would definitely be a contender.

On the flip side, if you are jonesing for some eggs to go with your (complimentary) Bloody Mary or Mimosa, then their Crab Cake and Eggs will make you smile. Once again, a classic dish that isn’t too twisted from what is known worldwide and is done tremendously well. Plus it’s topped with guacamole for all those who love that not only on their burrito but on their crab cake as well. Yummy.

If you need something extra to go along with your brunch, then their spicy Focaccia Bread is a great starter. There is a ton of flavor in the dish itself, but there is also an element of spice that makes it taste that much yummier. Have room for dessert saved in your tummy? Then their Flan is nothing short of extraordinary. Definitely a place you’ll want to RSVP to ASAP.
