Get Your Bibs Ready: Where to Go For NYC Winter Restaurant Week?

by Ryan Shea

Here we go, all my fellow NYC foodies… NYC Winter Restaurant Week has arrived!  Between today and February 9th, almost 400 restaurants around Manhattan will be participating with some fantastic three course menu options for both lunch and dinner.  But which are the best to chow down at?  As Rihanna would sing, “This is what you came for.”

Green Fig

This NYC Restaurant Week 1/22 – 2/9 Theater District’s Green Fig is introducing more than a new menu – there’s also a new chef! Chef de Cuisine Yuval Litmanovich, who joins the kitchen straight from Tel Aviv, is putting his own touch on the Israeli-accented Mediterranean cuisine by incorporating his experience working at some of Israel’s and Spain’s most acclaimed restaurants such as Meir Adoni’s Catit, as well as Barcelona’s Hisop and San Sebastian’s three Michelin-starred Arzak.

Green Fig’s three-course menu ($42) will feature new standouts such as “Ha’Carmel” Market Kebab, a tribute to Chef Yuval’s favorite market in Tel Aviv, with three grilled skewers of lamb and beef kebab over diced grilled vegetables accompanied by hummus and a refreshing salad of radish, parsley and fennel; Branzino with a fennel, lemon and burnt eggplant cream, marbled potatoes and special imported labaneh (strained yogurt); Mushroom “Risotto” made with Israeli couscous in place of rice, along with roasted fennel, pastis, and Parmigiano Reggiano; Mezze of hummus, charred eggplant and labneh with pita, and desserts like Brandied Quince with mascarpone and celery seed crumble.  More info here.
