Get your sweet tooth ready! Celebrity Baker Aliyyah Baylor has news worthy of an over the top cake. She’s got a brand new shop that just opened for business on the Upper West Side at 775 Columbus Avenue.
Aliyyah is a successful African American female entrepreneur who has been featured in the New York Times, Essence, and Crain’s New York Business. Her gorgeous creations have also graced the covers of Bake and Country Living magazines. She has showcased her phenomenal skills on the TODAY Show, The Food Network with Bobby Flay and was featured in national commercials for Verizon and Wells Fargo.

Aliyyah is known for combining the southern baking traditions of Alabama and Mississippi with a touch of Harlem. Her mother Ms. Jo-Ann, who was inspired by her grandmother Josephine, founded Make My Cake from the kitchen of their family’s Harlem apartment nearly 40 years ago. Aliyyah had the vision to expand the family business from her personal kitchen, to a storefront in Harlem, which has thrived for over 20 years. Make My Cake is home to sweets of all kinds from couture custom cakes, to homemade pies with a fan base of celebrities like Tina Fey, Jay Z, Vanessa Williams in addition to Fortune 500 Executives.

A passionate entrepreneur, Aliyyah, who refers to her customers as “Sweeties” treats every visitor as an extended member of her family. Recently Aliyyah launched a Sweets & Cream, handmade, ice cream line to compliment her decadent desserts. With Aliyyah at the helm as President and Chief Baking Officer, Make My Cake is continuing to expand with a new shoppe on the UWS to complement her Harlem flagship.
