We have officially entered into the 2019 calendar year. January is always a month where millions of people vow to work out and eat healthier. Whereas I can’t help in the workout department for our Manhattan Digest readers right now, one thing I can assist with is how to eat better but still wholeheartedly enjoy the plate of food you are devouring. Enter in The Hummus & Pita Co.
The Hummus & Pita Co, with three fabulous locations all over Manhattan, takes fast casual and makes it decadent, yummy and worth your dollar point.
Each space (Chelsea, Tribeca and Midtown) vows to give you the best of the best when it comes to tasty Mediterranean cuisine. I first stopped by there Chelsea space almost five years ago and not much has changed when it comes to the quality and flavor of the food they deliver.
The concept behind The Hummus & Pita Co is fairly straightforward. You have several different options when it comes to the kind of food you want to indulge in, albeit a a pita, laffa (Middle Eastern flatbread) or a big ole bowl filled with a ton of fabulous ingredients.
Then comes the stuffing or layering of what you want to order. The Hummus & Pita Co has everything from chicken, steak, Turkish meatballs and more that are cooked to perfection and have a great amount of spice in them.
That’s just the start. Then come the sides. You can throw a ton of tasty options in like grilled vegetables, Mediterranean rice, corn salad, Moroccan beans and so much more. As you can see, there’s diversity here when it comes to your side pairings, which is a lot better than other fast casual places that are out there.
There are of course hummus options… given the name of the space. I am not the biggest hummus fan per se, however they excel in this kind of dish with everything from the original version to cookie dough hummus. Yes… cookie dough.
Something that is also worth pointing out are their amazing shakes! They are just the right size (12 oz) and come in a variety of mouthwatering flavors like Pistachio, Butter Pecan, Strawberry and more. Yum.
