The Envelope Please! Where to Go to Watch The 91st Academy Awards

by Ryan Shea

The arguably biggest entertainment event each year is the Academy Awards (or Oscars). The 91st edition it is taking place this Sunday, February 24, and several NYC hotspots are doing something extra special for what will be a memorable evening!

Take a look at what these places have in store for this years’ Academy Awards.

Moxy Times Square

In honor of the 91st Academy Awards, Moxy Times Square will host a viewing party kicking off at 7pm at Bar Moxy where guests can celebrate their favorite flicks with Oscars themed cocktails! Bar Moxy will be offering specialty that correlate with each nominee such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Black Panther, Can You Ever Forgive me? and more.

Catch the Oscars in style at The Roof. Located in the heart of Midtown and overlooking Central Park from their enclosed terrace, guests will enjoy stunning views (and we aren’t talking about those red carpet looks) all while sipping on discounted $15 themed cocktails and munching on complimentary popcorn. Make sure to try one of the IG-worthy mini Moët & Chandon bottles (just like the ones they serve on the red carpet!)

Located on the 15th floor of Hotel Indigo Lower East Side, Mr. Purple’s “Clicquot Chalet” winter pop-up (open through Feb) is where aprés ski vibes and the Oscars collide. Among sweeping 360-degree views of Manhattan guest will enjoy discounted $15 themed cocktails and complimentary popcorn while catching this year’s show on their large projection screen.

It’s Oscar Thyme ($13) at DiWine Restaurant & Wine Bar in Astoria. Made with bourbon, thyme, lemon, Benedictine and prosecco and rimmed with edible gold glitter, it’s worthy of its own award!  In addition the restaurant will be showing the awards ceremony on a big screen.

The Red Siren ($18) at all five New York City locations of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse is definitely worthy of its own red carpet moment.  A true scene-stealer, it’s made with Stoli vodka, grenadine, lime juice and triple sec.  The Oscars will be shown in the bar area of each restaurant.
