Singer-songwriter Penelope Robin is on her way to becoming the next big thing at a very young age. She’s only 11 and has already reached millions of views on her YouTube channel and thousands on her social media pages. Should JoJo Siwa and others around her be concerned that she’s about to take their spotlight (wink wink)?
The Miami native has blown up all over the internet thanks to her colorful and catchy songs like “Some Girls” which currently has 1.2 million hits in on her YouTube in only three months. Very impressive.
She even has her own unique fan base just like Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey: her #littlerobins. So cute!
Penelope chatted with me about going after her dreams at a young age, who she looks up to as inspiration in her personal and professional life and much more. Check it out.
It takes guts to go after your dream at such a young age! Where do you get your perseverance from?
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me! I guess I get that a lot…lol. My family has always taught me that if you want something you have to go get it, and the sky’s the limit! Whatever obstacles come your way, just keep going and never give up! So I guess when it comes to music, which is what I love the most in the world, it’s pretty easy to be perseverant…. I just love doing it 🙂

What artists have inspired you so far in your life?
There are so many talented artists out there that it’s hard to choose, but I would have to say that Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars are my two biggest inspirations. Also, my dad C-Rod who has taught me everything I know about music and made me who I am today. I’m also very inspired by artists like my amazing guitar teacher Vincent Raffard from The French Horn Collective and Brendan O’Hara. The dedication and hard work I see from them every day as independent artists and their incredible talent makes me just love the magic of being an artist.
I’ve listened to your song “Some Girls”. It’s fantastic! How did you go about writing it?
Thank you so much! I wrote “Some Girls” because I feel with all the influence on social media and TV, some girls forget how amazing and lucky they might be. I wanted to remind them that they are perfect the way they are and that you don’t need everything in life. You should be happy with who yourself and the little things in life, which are what really make us special.
Does this mean an album is on the way? What can fans expect?
Well, I have a lot of new songs coming out soon so I think it’s more about singles, but maybe it’ll be an album after all! I guess we’ll just have to see!
You’re from the beaches of Miami, but would you ever trade that in and move to NYC?
That’s a hard one! I LOVE New York, but I also love my hometown Miami. I do however think that moving is always an amazing experience so I would consider it.
What is your biggest career goal moving forward?
My biggest goal for my music is to make people happy! And make a difference in their lives. I would love to go on tour and be able to meet my fans around the world. My #LittleRobins! They are everything!
