I’ve made no secret about my love of culinary icon Donatella Arpaia. It’s at the point where I’m almost girl crushing on how awesome she is, both as a person and chef. So I was delighted to find out that she was opening another Prova Pizzabar location, this time inside the swank Moxy Times Square.
Prova Pizzabar is one of the best places to eat at inside Grand Central Station. The variety of pizza options plus mouthwatering appetizers that she and her team provide are nothing short of stellar inside one of New York City’s greatest landmarks.

The Grand Central space is much different compared to her newest location on 7th avenue between 36th and 37th street. This one reads more like an old school pizzeria in terms of its style and seating, which rings true to the bustling area that’s around it. It’s also hella convenient for people who come in and out of Penn Station (like I used to do for many years) given it’s only a couple of blocks away.
Here you will find the same culinary staples that makes Prova Pizzabar so special, no matter what spot you go to. Her Famous Spicy Meatballs and Garlic Knots Smothered in Mozz are two reasons why I happily keep coming back.

Then there’s a pizza, which she should win awards for based on how freaking tasty each slice is. They had a Buffalo Chicken slice at the newest spot that brought the heat but not to the point where it overdid your palate. If you want something a bit more traditional, try their Margherita slice. Classic, minimal ingredients, but tastes wonderfully no matter what.
