It’s always exciting when a new restaurant opens in Manhattan, as it gives another chef a great opportunity to provide something unique and totally different from the norm. Celebrity chef David Laris’ new spot called EDEN Local just opened this past weekend inside the luxury hotel Cachet Boutique NYC Hotel, which promises to be one of the new trendy hotspots you must stop by this fall, winter and beyond.

This is the third continent for which David Laris has lived on. He was born in Sydney, Australia and made a name for himself as a versatile chef in Hong Kong, London and Shanghai. He currently resides in Singapore. David has created this concept and it is inspired by his way of life, extensive travels and passion for ingredient driven recipes. The restaurant aims to produce a place where guilt-free dining and indulgence can co-exist.
“I grew up on a farm where we have free range chickens, freshly grown vegetables and spices that fed the family, and it is a way of living that still follows me. Our chefs at EDEN Local, go to the local market in Manhattan, and use the fresh local produce to execute the menu I am so proud of. I am thrilled to be bringing this concept to New York as a modern eatery in the heart of the city” said Laris.
Alongside Laris, who is the Chief Creative Officer at Cachet Hospitality Group, Executive Chef Frances Tariga leads the kitchen at EDEN Local with a strong vision to source all ingredients from local artisan producers. Products are made fresh in-house including sourdough bread using ancient grains, almond and cashew milk, coconut cream, and fermented vegetables. Highlights from the dinner menu include Grilled 100% Grassfed Ribeye, fairytale eggplant, melty shallots, wild chantrelles, sprouts; Roasted Cauliflower “Steak”, sultana raisin gremolata, spiced pinenuts, crème fraiche; Ancient Grains Salad, green goddess, hemp, roasted corn, sunflower, espelette; Kabocha Gnocchi, zucchini, parmesan, charred corn, spinach; and Kombu Cured Wild Snapper, charred avocado, summer radishes, leche de tigre, serrano, blue popcorn.

Chef Tariga has an extensive background in the culinary industry and has worked around the world in the Manila Philippines, Dubai and now NYC. She most recently worked at Megu NYC (which we loved), Catch NYC and Buddakan NYC. She frequents on the Food Network and has competed on Top Chef Season 13, Cutthroat Kitchen All-Stars, Cutthroat Kitchen and Chopped.
EDEN Local’s inviting space has strong earthy tones that accentuate the comfort of being surrounded with nature. The interior is modern with a rustic element, and the restaurant features eclectic music set to dramatic ambiance lighting, perfect for a chic dinner or lively group soirée. The bar area has gliding folded window panes that allow natural light into the restaurant. EDEN Local also offers a selection of local craft beers, ciders, homemade spirit infusions, organic wines, nature-inspired cocktails, kombuchas, and cold pressed juices. These items are also available to guests for purchase over the counter.
The restaurant is located within the newly opened Cachet Boutique NYC, and is now open for dinner. In November 2017 the restaurant will open for breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Guests will also be able to order food from EDEN Local via in-room dining.
