KTCHN in Hell’s Kitchen Reinvents Itself, Italian Style

by Ryan Shea

Nothing wrong with trying to reinvent something right? Especially when what they have going for them already is pretty damn good. This particular instance is the fabulous restaurant KTCHN, which is located inside the world famous OUT Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen. The restaurant is reinventing itself by adding a fantastic Italian menu to its already mouth watering selections that have made it a staple for locals and tourists alike.  What did they exactly add though that will bring even more people in?  Let your taste buds decide which is best for you (even if it is everything).

KTCHN has been a favorite of ours here at Manhattan Digest for a while (see the other review here) as we always enjoyed its taken on American meets Mediterranean cuisine.  So naturally we were ecstatic when they decided to add a personal favorite, Italian to the mix.  Last night they have a press preview for the new menu, and we were quite impressed with the end result.  Here are the standouts.

The new menu features tantalizing options from Chef Crispin Mejia including Pizza Bruschetta with chopped tomato and Parmesan,Rigatoni Bolognese with pork, veal and beef in a Pomodoro sauce and Calamari. The menu also offers a selection of handmade tossed artisanal pizzas including the classic Margherita with Italian tomatoes, basil, and fresh mozzarella, and the Prosciutto with Romano and mozzarella. For dessert make sure to check out KTCHN’s Tiramisu and Ricotta Cheesecake with strawberry sauce.

For meat eaters, Chef Crispin offers Marinated Rib-Eye steak with roasted potatoes, Scottish Grilled Salmon with garlic sautéed spinach and caramelized plum tomatoes and Grilled Branzino with roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe.

Per the press release, “I wanted to create a menu that appealed to the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and you can’t go wrong with homemade pizza,” said Chef Crispin. He continues, “We will still offer KTCHN’s signature options like the KTCHN Burger for those looking to stick to their classic options.”

Nothing wrong with sticking to the classics yet letting some new team members in to play, in my opinion.  Looks like KTCHN is spicing things up again, and it looks like it’s going to be one hell of a tasty dish. For more information on KTCHN, check out their official website.
