As someone who grew up a foodie his entire life, primarily due to my mother being a big chef out on Long Island, I have always had a love for the culinary world and what it entails. My love for that has grown over the past couple of years as I have taken a ride into the journalism aspect of the industry, and have enjoyed every step of the way with each restaurant and chef I highlight. One person who has done an amazing job at both the culinary and journalism side is Gail Simmons, who has been a mainstay of Bravo’s “Top Chef” since its inception over a decade ago, as well as being a huge part of the best food magazine in the world, Food & Wine. Theater Review: “Notes From The Field”
Unless you’re completely oblivious to current affairs and the world in which you live , you’d be hard pressed to not to notice the racial and socio-economic divide which has–and continues to– plague our nation. Even before our recent election, many American cities and towns have been taut with tension from race and gender inequalities, unemployment, police brutalities, failing educational systems, and a recidivism rate that is unreasonably high. Now, it could be argued, our collective emotions and reactions have hit an apex and our responsibility to reunite and mend seems to be an insurmountable task. Padoca Bakery is A Bright Light In The Upper East Side
A few years ago I decided that I was officially a New Yorker. I decided this because I had learned how to do everything – find my MetroCard, send a text message, order take out, cook breakfast – one-handed, because the left hand has a coffee cup permanently attached to it. I am the first to admit that I’m a coffeeholic. As far as addictions go, it could be worse, but still. The amount of coffee I (and most New Yorkers) consume is just ludicrous. I have a coffee in front of me right now while I write this. It seems that each neighborhood in Manhattan has a few options for coffee. Huge chains, like Starbucks, and smaller indie coffee shops.

Theater Review: The Pond Makes a Splash with “Abigail’s Party”
Henry David Thoreau observed that “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation.” While it may seem like pure schadenfreude, never before has such distress been more painfully entertaining than it is in The Barrow Group and Pond Theater Company’s impeccable staging of Mike Leigh’s classic play Abigail’s Party. Leigh’s timeless examination of class struggle is well known in the U.K. to the extent that the live 1977 theater version was preserved for television audiences and ranks as one of the 100 Greatest British Television Programs. For fans of classic British sitcoms, it might be argued that Abigail’s Party served as inspiration for Keeping Up Appearances, an early nineties television comedy that skewered both the middle and upper classes.
