A Photographer’s Retrospective: Part 2

by Mark Giarrusso

Rhapsody in Blue, Retrospective

Continuing on my last retrospective, I have chosen 5 photos that I believe most represent New York City.  My photography IS New York City.  I have taken hundreds of photos outside of the city but just like I am from New York, my art is also representative of who I am: a New Yorker. Patsy’s Italian Restaurant in Midtown is Classic Redefined

by Ryan Shea

patsy's italian restaurant

When Frank Sinatra lists your restaurant as his favorite in New York City, generally that means you have something good going on.  This particular dynamite location is Patsy’s Italian Restaurant, located in the heart of midtown Manhattan on 56th Street between 8th and Broadway.  After penning an article about National Pasta Day earlier this week for them, I decided to head there myself to see what all the fuss was about.  Boy was I glad that I went. by Ryan Shea

all stars 2

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2 concludes tonight, where we will see if Rolaskatox will once again try to win against our last remaining hope in Katya.  This season was absolutely phenomenal up until about two weeks ago, where many of us started catching on as to what was really going on.  Now, we are in the same position that we were in for Season 5, and quite frankly, I’m not happy about it. Goodbye, Grindr. It’s Been Fun.

by Andrew Savage

Grindr

This weekend I deleted my Grindr app, for good. I know what all fellow Grindr users are thinking. “Yeah sure, it’ll be back on your phone by Monday morning” and they would be correct to make that assumption. I have done this dance as a user of the Grindr app for about 5 years. I delete the app for a while and then I come back to it a few days or even a few hours later. The question I have asked myself a lot recently is: “Why?” While I admit, the occasional Grindr hookup on a boring Sunday afternoon was thrilling for a while, the app itself was a technological form of time travel back to middle school where I was routinely bullied for being “too feminine” or “fat.” [Read more…] about Goodbye, Grindr.
