A Manhattanite in Philadelphia- Check into The Independent Hotel

by Ryan Shea

For the second part of our article series on why Manhattanites should visit Philadelphia, we examine one of the biggest parts of any trip- where to stay?  There is always the easy option of familiarity and stay at a well-known hotel that has multiple locations throughout the world, however it is always good as a consumer to think local, especially in the hotel world.  Boutique hotels add an element of community to their properties, and tend to go the extra step when it comes to making their customers happy and above all, return for another trip.  One particular hotel in Philadelphia that seems to have this down pat is the fantastic Independent Hotel, located in the heart of the gayborhood part of Philly on Locust Street, a mere 10 minute drive away from the Amtrak station.  Here is why you should stay there the next time you are in Philly. Salt N Pepa & More Hit Up W Times Square Tomorrow Night!

by Ryan Shea

As someone who grew up in the 1990’s, anything that can give me a bit of nostalgia is severely awesome as I truthfully believe that it was the best decade for so many reasons.  Well when you have not just one, or two, but THREE different reasons to bring the 90’s back into the forefront of 2016, then it’s a reason to celebrate for more reason than one.  Three of the biggest acts of the 90’s- hip hop legends Salt N Pepa & Kid ‘N’ Play and Rob Base, will be hosting a FREE concert tomorrow night at The W New York-Times Square.  How awesome is that?  This will officially kick off The “I Love The 90’s” tour in partnership with SX Liquors, one of the best liquor brands in the country! A Manhattanite in Philadelphia- Where to Eat?

by Ryan Shea

Now that the warmer weather is finally hitting us, so many New Yorkers are looking to take those vacation days that they have stowed away and get out of the city for a bit.  With so many different options to travel to, why not settle for something that is literally a 90 minute Amtrak ride away, with endless benefits that will guarantee you a great trip?  This is of course, the “City of Brotherly Love” that we know as Philadelphia.  At Manhattan Digest, we have visited some great cities in the United States from DC, Providence to most recently San Francisco, and we are very excited to show you why Philadelphia has so many great options to enjoy with such a short distance to get to them.  First on our list, my personal favorite- where to eat?  Going to another city should never mean hitting up a chain restaurant due to familiarity, you should divulge into the local scene and see what makes that particular city so great in terms of its fantastic food adventures.  Staying in the “Gayborhood” part of Philly, there were a couple that really stood out to me for several reasons.  Here are some you should visit on your next trip down there.
