Sam Hendi’s MAGNANIMOUS Connects Men & Body Language Beautifully

by Ryan Shea

MAGNANIMOUS

Filmmaker and Creative Producer (and superbly handsome) Sam Hendi is back with his second short film in his MADIDUS triolgy called MAGNANIMOUS.  The follow up to his critically acclaimed first film MASS: C19H2802 once again brilliantly showcases how men and body language intertwine absolutely beautifully.  On a visual and hearing level, this short film is something that needs to be seen by many as it highlights the beauty of men from a solo point of view but also when they have that amazing connection with another man. iPic Theaters Provides a Unique Movie Going Experience Downtown

by Ryan Shea

iPic

iPic Theaters wants to give you the movie going pleasure of Beyonce’s song and legitimately Upgrade U. With the ever present popularity of streaming movies and staying home, it is hard to find a reason to head to the actual theaters for the latest films you are dying to see.  iPic gives you so many reasons to get off your butt and head down to their South Street Seaport location that go beyond the basic semi-comfortable chair and burnt popcorn experience.  I stopped by there with a friend on Saturday and was truly enchanted by it all. Manhattanites

Over the course of running Manhattan Digest, I have had the privilege of meeting some incredibly savvy and interesting people throughout my endless experiences that have shaped the journey of this website.  A lot of these people have left some pretty amazing impressions on me that bring up the need for this article in that they deserve some extra shine in the spotlight.  They all come from different creative walks of life, but each of them are incredibly determined and focused in what they want to do with their careers, similar to myself, and that made it easy for me to put them on my list of Manhattanites that you need to know. Manhattan Digest’s Oscars Review: Hair & Makeup Edition!

by Laurissa Hartnett

Oscars

Alright, so was it just me or did everyone at the Oscars look like they did their own hair and makeup themselves this year? Ironically that might make the rest of us common folk feel better. If this is some kind of new motivational movement where “You are enough,” then great, keep it up. If this is not a “thing,” then stop hiring people off Instagram to do your hair and makeup. I have no idea what I was really expecting this season, but this wasn’t it. It ain’t cute; it was a little disappointing actually. The Edge of Seventeen is the Perfect Teen Comedy

by Ryan Shea

The Edge of Seventeen

Teen comedies over the years have generally been not too realistic, in particular if the rating is PG-13.  The best ones move over into the R rating as the “r” in this case stands for “realistic”.  Movies like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and American Pie seem to have a firmer grasp on what it is like to grow up as a teenager that includes dealing with silly and serious matter at the very same time.  The Edge of Seventeen does that very poignantly as well, which i discovered this past weekend upon seeing a matinee of it at AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13. Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight” Shines Bright Throughout

by Ryan Shea

Moonlight

This past Saturday, I took myself and a friend to go see the critically acclaimed film by Barry Jenkins called “Moonlight” at Chelsea Cinepolis on 23rd and 8th Avenue.  The film chronicles the life of a young black man from child to adult as he struggles to find his own identity in a rough part of Miami.  Throughout the film, you get a first hand experience of the pain and suffering he goes through, which is something you don’t really get to experience much in the movies as of late.
